The trailer of the film Disclosure Day (2026).

Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi movie starring Emily Blunt

A first trailer gave us a sneak peek at Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming feature film, Disclosure Day (2026). Boasting a prestigious cast, with Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, this sci-fi thriller raises a staggering question… What would happen if humanity discovered it wasn’t alone in the universe? Emily Blunt embodies a meteorologist confronted with an unexplained alien phenomenon, while Josh O’Connor portrays a man determined to reveal the truth to the world.

Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s long-awaited return to science fiction — a genre that defined much of his filmography, from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) to E.T. (1982). Co-written with longtime collaborator David Koepp, this new project promises to be both spectacular and unsettling.

Disclosure Day by Steven Spielberg, coming out in theaters on June 10th, 2026.

    The trailer of Backrooms (2026).

Backrooms, a horror film starring Renate Reinsve

Before the release of Fjord, actress Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), the 2026 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner, will appear in a radically different project. Backrooms is a strange, unsettling horror film produced by A24. Directed by Kane Parsons, the youngest filmmaker ever signed by the studio, the feature is adapted from his web series inspired by a viral digital urban legend. The “Backrooms” are a labyrinthine space of empty, vertiginous yellow rooms where reality itself is unraveling. Already out in the United States, this film will surely surprise audiences and become a box-office hit.

Backrooms by Kane Parsons, coming out in theatres on June 17th, 2026.

    The Odyssey with Matt Damon

Nearly three years after the resounding success of Oppenheimer (2023), Christopher Nolan takes on a colossal new project — a fresh adaptation of Homer’s epic. Titled The Odyssey, the film follows Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) on his journey back to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway (Penelope), Tom Holland (Telemachus), Zendaya (Athena), and Charlize Theron (Circe the sorceress) will join him on screen.

Filmed across multiple continents, including the Sicilian island of Favignana, this feature promises an epic fresco infused with dramatic tension, in the spirit of Gladiator. The already impressive cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, John Leguizamo, and Benny Safdie, hinting at a film whose ambition is as great as its €250 million budget…

The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan, coming out on July 17th, 2026.

The trailer of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026).

The new Spider-Man film starring Zendaya

Regarding blockbusters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of 2026. Fans will meet the iconic duo Tom Holland/Zendaya once more, returning as Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and MJ. Anticipation is all the greater given that the previous installment, No Way Home, ended with a major plot twist… The entire world, including MJ and Peter’s loved ones, forgot that Peter Parker ever existed.

The central question of this new chapter is pretty obvious. How will Spider-Man recollect his memory and win back the love of those who no longer remember him? The film also expands its cast with the arrival of actress Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), whose role remains unknown for now.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day by Destin Daniel Cretton, coming out in theatres on July 29th, 2026.

All of a Sudden with Virginie Efira, acclaimed at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival

As usual, the 2026 Cannes Film Festival celebrated outstanding acting performances. A familiar face on the Croisette, actress Virginie Efira presented two features in competition, including All of a Sudden. Directed by Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi — winner of the Best Screenplay Award for Drive My Car in 2021, the film earned her the award for Best Actress with her co-star Tao Okamoto. For the role, Virginie Efira learned to speak Japanese and to write in kanji.

She portrays the director of a care home for the elderly who develops a complex relationship with a Japanese playwright. Running for 3 hours and 15 minutes, the film explores their intellectual and intimate bond through layered dialogue and deep reflections on language, transmission and identity.

All of a Sudden (2026) by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, coming out in theatres on August 12th, 2026.

Fjord, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival

The biggest winner of the 2026 Palme d’Or, Fjord is undoubtedly the film generating the most curiosity this year. Directed by Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, who previously won the Palme d’Or in 2007 for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, the feature transports viewers to Norway. It stars Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World, Sentimental Value) and Romanian-American actor Sebastian Stan (Fresh, The Apprentice). They portray Mihai and Libset, a Romanian-Norwegian couple who move with their children to the young woman’s hometown, deep within the Scandinavian fjords.

When teachers discover bruises on one of the children, the parents become prime suspects. What follows is a long legal investigation that puts assumptions and perceptions to the test. Beyond the striking beauty of its landscapes, Fjord belongs to the tradition of films, like Anatomy of a Fall, which thrive on ambiguity, blurring the line between reality and fiction.

Fjord (2026) by Cristian Mungiu, coming out in theatres on August 19th, 2026.

The Unknown by Arthur Harari, starring Léa Seydoux and Niels Schneider

In The Unknown, his eighth feature film, Arthur Harari brings Léa Seydoux and Niels Schneider together on screen for the first time. They respectively play David Zimmerman, a photographer, and a mysterious woman with whom he swaps bodies with no recollection of the night they spent together. A disturbing and inexplicable event, since David has no idea who this unknown woman is and has no memory of their encounter.

Presented in the Official Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, the film is already among the must-sees. In an interview with Numéro, Léa Seydoux reflected on this singular experience. “I had the chance to play things that I will probably never play again. It nourished my imagination tenfold,” the French actress shared.

The Unknown, directed by Arthur Harari, in cinemas on August 26th, 2026.

    Garance with Adèle Exarchopoulos

With Garance, French director Jeanne Herry reunites with Adèle Exarchopoulos following All Your Faces in 2023. The French actress embodies a struggling actress battling alcoholism and her inner demons. Spanning eight years of her life, the film follows her through a series of moves, encounters and excesses, while also capturing moments of grace and redemption. Alongside Sara Giraudeau, Adèle Exarchopoulos delivers a magnetic performance in a story described as “an intimate, emotional and sexual revolution, a kind of joyful chaos where love and self-destruction become intertwined.”

Garance by Jeanne Herry, coming out in theatres on September 23rd, 2026.

A Man of His Time starring Swann Arlaud

Another standout title from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, A Man of His Time by Emmanuel Marre (Zero Fucks Given) won the award for Best Screenplay. Set in Vichy France in 1940, the film addresses the question of collaboration through a personal story, that of the director’s ancestor, Henri Marre. Struggling to find his place within a regime shaped by compromise and fascism, he becomes the focus of a nuanced, deeply personal historical drama. The leading role is played with remarkable intensity by Swann Arlaud, whose performance further confirms the talent he displayed in Anatomy of a Fall (2023).

A Man of His Time by Emmanuel Marre, in cinemas on September 30, 2026.

La bola negra, a queer epic starring Penélope Cruz

Spanish directing duo Los Javis, made up of Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, deliver an ambitious queer epic with La bola negra. Starring Penélope Cruz, the film unfolds across three different periods, 1932, 1937 and 2017. It follows the intertwined destinies of three gay men connected by an invisible thread of desire, pain and inheritance. The male cast notably includes Spanish singer-songwriter, guitarist and actor Guitarricadelafuente, alongside Miguel Bernardeau (Elite) and Carlos González (Ponyboi). Together, they bring to life a story that spans generations while exploring memory, identity and the enduring echoes of the past.

La bola negra (2026), coming out in theatres on October 19th, 2026.

Dune: Part Three with Timothée Chalamet

Two years after the release of Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve is about to unveil the final chapter of his saga. Based on Frank Herbert’s novel Messiah of Dune, this third installment sees Timothée Chalamet returning as Paul Atreides, now Emperor, and facing threats both inside and outside the walls of his palace.

The cast also includes Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke, who will portray the children of Paul and Chani (Zendaya). Lastly, legendary composer Hans Zimmer, who scored the first two movies, is expected to return to bring a powerful musical close to the epic saga…

Dune: Part Three by Denis Villeneuve, coming out on December 16th, 2026.

    Werwulf with Lily-Rose Depp

After Nosferatu (2024), director Robert Eggers reunites with Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe on yet another Gothic project. Titled Werwulf and scheduled for release on December 30th, 2026, the feature shifts its focus to a werewolf. In the first images from the set, Vanessa Paradis’s daughter appears completely transformed — her face swollen with a cleft lip. A sharp contrast to her glamorous image.

Werwulf by Robert Eggers, coming out on December 30th, 2026.

The trailer of Mother Mary (2026).

Mother Mary has all the makings of our favourite film of 2026. First, its impressive cast, starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel and Hunter Schafer. Then, its soundtrack composed by Charli xcx and FKA twigs. And finally, its epic trailer, which stages a pop star and a fashion designer who appear to be involved in a romantic relationship against a backdrop of witchcraft and ghostly tales.
