The Drama: Robert Pattinson and Zendaya invite us to their wedding

After winning over critics with the feature film Dream Scenario, Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli called on the magnetic duo of actors Robert Pattinson and Zendaya to star in his upcoming project, The Drama, scheduled for release on April 1st, 2026. Numéro takes a closer look.

Robert Pattinson and Zendaya together in The Drama

A few years after the release of the dark comedy Sick of Myself (2022), starring Kristine Kujath Thorp, and the feature film Dream Scenario (2023), in which Nicolas Cage embodies an awkward professor, Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli is outlining the plot of his new project. The Drama, which will hit theatres on April 1st, 2026, tells the story of a couple whose relationship takes a wrong turn just days before their wedding, as the two lovebirds are caught up in the final preparations. Spending an evening with friends, the soon-to-be bride makes a shocking revelation that will upend her fiancé’s future.

The film will also mark the highly anticipated first on-screen collaboration between actress Zendaya and actor Robert Pattinson. The two talented actors will also be co-stars in Christopher Nolan‘s fresco The Odyssey, as well as in Denis Villeneuve‘s film Dune: Part Three in 2026.

At a press conference in Paris, which Numéro attended, the Euphoria star told us: “I had a front-row seat to Robert’s transformation from The Drama to the next Dune, and it was really amazing. I knew Rob as Rob, then I met Charlie [his character in The Drama], and then his character in Dune. And it’s incredible how different they are. Even if he may feel like he doesn’t know what he’s doing, to me, it looks like a complete creation. I love watching him completely disappear into a new character. It’s really impressive to witness, not just on screen, but in real life too.”

    An irresistible duo of actors

The intimate romantic drama The Drama stages a completely different atmosphere than the desert plains of Dune and from the actors’ roles in major franchises, like the space thriller Mickey 17 by Bong Joon-Ho, the visionary director behind Parasite. However, Robert Pattinson added nuance to these differences at a press conference in Paris: “When you’re making a film from a big franchise, it’s not necessarily that different from this one. It depends a lot on the director. For The Drama, we talked a lot with the director, which I have always appreciated. I don’t necessarily like strict rehearsals, but few directors want to really talk things through, because actors can quickly get carried away. And I have an unlimited capacity to talk about a character… But then again, not everyone necessarily wants that either.

With Denis (Villeneuve), for example, I was surprised by how little we talked about this character, who is quite unusual. You arrive on set, and it’s like: ‘Yeah, yeah.’ (laughs) I felt like I had absolutely no idea what I was doing until the moment we started shooting. But it was still such an interesting experience… It’s completely different every time,” he added.

    A fake romantic comedy

In the French magazine Première, Robert Pattinson spoke about the eventful shoot of The Drama, which is shaping up to be a fake romantic comedy. He explained that he called Zendaya in the middle of the night to discuss a complex scene. “We had a scene together that was driving me crazy,” the actor recalls. “I was desperately trying to figure out its meaning, to the point of writing pages and pages of analysis… I ended up calling Zendaya the night before the shoot.”

He then described the many discussions that took place during filming: “I shared my doubts with her and talked to her for two hours. After a while, very calmly, she finally made me understand that the line simply meant what it said and that there was no hidden meaning.”

    A project produced by A24

Alongside this irresistible duo of star actors, Kristoffer Borgli has assembled a dream team, as The Drama is produced by A24. The cult studio is behind films such as Civil War, Love Lies Bleeding, and more recently MaXXXine and Marty Supreme. This studio hints at a film with a tense atmosphere, where refined aesthetics intertwine with an unsettling and captivating narrative.

In the vein of Dream Scenario (2023), The Drama is co-produced by Ari Aster, the director and master of horror behind the haunting Beau Is Afraid (2023), starring Joaquin Phoenix. As for the cast, actress and singer Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza), Mamoudou Athie (Kinds of Kindness), and the brilliant Hailey Gates (Challengers) will star alongside Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.

A website to book a ticket for Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s wedding

To promote the film, A24 has created a website dedicated to the wedding of the two characters portrayed by the lead actors. Since Valentine’s Day, the site charlieandemmaforever.com has allowed visitors to enter their email address to attend the wedding of Charlie and Emma in Boston. Information about the dress code and event details, along with photos of the soon-to-be newlyweds, also appear on that page. In a clever move, studio A24 opened a chapel where visitors could “tie the knot” in Las Vegas. Zendaya even made a surprise appearance at a young couple’s wedding in 2026. Hoodies featuring the film’s protagonists were also handed out.

We also loved the looks from the film’s promotional tour — a perfect inspiration for a wedding. Zendaya stepped onto the red carpet in a stunning long white Louis Vuitton gown at the Paris premiere. “I really enjoy playing with clothes and being creative through fashion to help promote the film I’m working on. There’s always a foundation, a visual language you can identify with. This time, I thought about the saying ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ It became the starting point for the theme of the promo looks, and you’ll see what comes next. We’ve got some fun things planned. The Prince-inspired outfit wasn’t part of that. It was just a fun idea. I thought it was very clever,” the actress explained at a press conference.
