2021 was Léa Seydoux‘s year. First, the French actress was confirmed in the fabulous cast of Wes Anderson‘s film The French Dispatch (2021). Then, she slipped back into the costume of a James Bond Girl for the new chapter of the spy saga, No Time to Die (2021). Having already met with Agent 007, brilliantly played by Daniel Craig, in the heart of the Austrian Alps in Spectre (2015), she portrayed the charismatic psychologist Madeleine Swann at the request of the British actor. Director Cary Fukunaga, who recently made waves with his remake of It and the Netflix miniseries Maniac, backed his request as well.
Her French charm clearly made a strong impression. The 40-year-old actress is only the second to resume her role alongside the British spy in the 50-year history of the saga. Only one other actress had this honor, the British actress Eunice Gayson. She used to play Sylvia Trench in the first Bond movie Dr. No (1962). Then, she reappeared the following year in From Russia with Love, next to Sean Connery. As for the rest of the cast, Ralph Fiennes (M), Ben Whushaw (Q), and Naomie Harris (Moneypenny, M’s secretary) also took part in that new mission.
