How Doechii revamps the officewear trend in 14 sensational looks
Winner of the Best Rap Album at the Grammy Award on February 3rd, Doechii has established herself as the new it-girl to watch in both the music and fashion scenes. With her striped ties and crinoline suit trousers, the rapper’s style is taking officewear to new heights. As she prepares for her very first appearance at the next Met Gala, Numéro takes a look back at the rise of the new princess of rap through a selection of silhouettes from the collections of Thom Browne, Miu Miu and Willy Chavarria.

Rapper Doechii, winner at the 2025 Grammy Awards
Doechii has done it. The self-proclaimed ‘Swamp Princess’ – a nod to her Floridian roots – has won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for her record Alligator Bites Never Heal (2024). She is the third woman in history to win the award, after Lauryn Hill in 1999 and Cardi B in 2019.
Endorsed by Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Tyler, The Creator, the 26-year-old rapper had up until now built her career around tracks that received tremendous success on social media. However, this new album opens more doors onto her private life. She shares her relationship with addiction and the music industry through cutting punchlines…
Doechii, a star that subscribes to flashy looks
In addition to her achievements behind the microphone, Doechii has gradually established herself as a rising fashion icon. Before the release of her album Alligator Bites Never Heal, her appearances were characterised by deliberately flashy looks.
From an open black leather jacket with gothic features at the 2022 VMAS to a 2000s-inspired look with a low-cut top at the 2023 BET Awards… The singer plays with different aesthetics and trends on red carpets, on the advice of her stylist Sam Woolf.
In an interview with Paper Magazine, Woolf confided: “We had numerous conversations about taking her style in a new direction and where we wanted to go. (…) We were in this swamp, trashy-core world before, and we loved it and had so much fun. (…) But the woman she was had to grow and evolve. You let that era be what it’s meant to be and you move on…”
Noticeable officewear looks
Alligator Bites Never Heal has opened a new chapter for Doechii, both in terms of music and aesthetic. To promote the release of her album in 2024, the rapper put together a wardrobe with officewear touches.
Blazer jackets, thin ties and skater skirts became Doechii’s favourite pieces. In October 2024, she performed at the Alhambra in Paris in a Vivienne Westwood ensemble, including an unbuttoned shirt, an choppy tie carelessly knotted and a plaid skirt.

Moreover, Doechii got close to some of the hottest brands of the moment and appeared on Tommy Hilfiger’s, Luar’s and Willy Chavarria’s catwalks. The latter designed a men’s suit with brown undertones, which the rapper wore to her sensational Tiny Desk concert.
Doechii is also a huge fan of Miu Miu, one of the houses that set the office siren trend during its Fall/Winter 2023-2024 runway show. On stage at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in November 2024, she paired a striped polo shirt with rectangular glasses and a pair of mini-shorts embossed with the house logo. A blend between officewear and the no pants trend that propels Doechii a little further to the status of it-girl…
Doechii rethinks the officewear aesthetic
Perhaps this is where Doechii’s genius lies – dusting off iconic everyday pieces without making them seem mundane. While the austere, monotonous style of the officewear wardrobe could have a deterrent effect, Doechii gives it a new lease of life and dive into it with boldness and versatility.
She peppers her outfits with dashes of colour, a far cry from the gloomy shades of grey and beige usually emphasized by the trend. Besides, the rapper electrifies the officewear’s narrow silhouettes by adding whimsical touches. The best example is undoubtedly the lifting face tape that adorns her face at all times and that she sometimes covers with rhinestones!
The outfits she sported on stage at the Grammy Awards are beyond any doubt the ultimate proof – a pinstriped dress with exaggerated hips, an ensemble with crinoline-style trousers, or a balloon dress made with irregular trouser legs and set off with bell boots… With no less than four Thom Browne looks, the rapper is definitely one of the stars to watch closely.
On May 5th, 2025, Doechii will walk the steps of the Met Gala for the very first time – the most eagerly-awaited fashion event of the year. Celebrating the art of men’s tailoring, this year’s edition could well be another major stunt for the rapper. We only have a few months to wait to find out what she has in store for us…
