Keeping up with Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi and the Brontë sisters in Yorkshire

With the upcoming release of the film Wuthering Heights on February 11th, 2026, diving back into the literary masterpiece penned by Emily Brontë or visiting the feature’s shooting locations feels like a necessity. The wild and sublime landscapes of Yorkshire in England were the settings of the adaptation starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie. Here’s an overview of this romantic region, lost in the middle of the mist and moors.

  • In 2026, not only will we be longing for oversized princess dresses and corsets, but also for Emily Brontë‘s novel Wuthering Heights and a trip to Yorkshire. Indeed, this is where one of the most anticipated films of the year was filmed. Wuthering Heights by Emerald Fennell (Saltburn) is slated for theatrical release on February 11th, 2026. And the cast features the charismatic Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

Film tourism, which involves visiting the filming locations of our favorite shows and movies, is a growing trend. So much so that VisitBritain, the UK national tourism agency, recently launched a video campaign highlighting places that welcomed Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible and Zendaya in Spider-Man. Among the films that draw the most tourists are Harry Potter, Love Actually, Notting Hill, and the romantic saga Bridget Jones. And soon, no doubt, Wuthering Heights.

In the footsteps of the Brontë sisters in Yorkshire

Wuthering Heights is a film adaptation of the cult classic of the same name published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. It is the only novel ever written by British author and poet Emily Brontë (1818-1848). Love, passion, revenge, and cruelty are the key elements of this literary masterpiece. The new film adaptation is bound to define the year 2026. To immerse yourself in the romantic, feverish, and brooding atmosphere of the feature, you will need to explore the places that saw Emily Brontë and her sisters – novelists and literary figures Charlotte and Anne Brontë – evolve.

Start by the Brontë Birthplace, located in the village of Thornton, near Bradford. This is where Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and their brother Branwell were born, before the family moved to the picturesque small town of Haworth.

There, original objects have been preserved, while the rooms have been furnished in 19th-century style. You are immediately transported into the childhood of the Brontë sisters as you step into this place. The best part is you can book the exact same rooms where these rising literary icons once slept… On Airbnb.

Manor houses take visitors back to the Victorian era

In the same spirit, make sure to visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum, located in what was once the family’s home in Haworth, a charming village well worth exploring to soak up the Victorian atmosphere. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne wrote their novels in this historic parsonage. Nowadays, you can spot many young women dressed like the famous sisters, carefully examining the clothes, objects, and manuscripts that once belonged to these geniuses of English literature.

Finally, we would highly recommend a trip to Oakwell Hall. This Elizabethan manor, built in 1583 and located in Birstall, West Yorkshire, was furnished and decorated to match the Brontës’ era. Charlotte Brontë visited it several times and even mentioned the house in her novel Shirley. It also served as a filming location for several productions, including the 2009 adaptation of Wuthering Heights starring Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley.

A hike in the wild of Wuthering Heights

Another must-see pilgrimage site for fans of the Brontë sisters? The path across the moors that leads to Top Withens in Haworth, West Yorkshire, about 420 meters above sea level. Waterproof hiking shoes are essential for the climb since it is often raining and part of the path follows a stream. But the effort is well worth it. Indeed, Top Withens is an impressive, isolated farmhouse in ruins, located on top of Haworth Moor.

But above all, it is said to be the place which inspired the setting of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Its romantic, mystical atmosphere echoes that of the Earnshaws’ house in the novel.

The sets of Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie

Let’s not forget that the intense, passionate unfolding in Wuthering Heights takes place in the Yorkshire moors. A wild landscape that mirrors the inner turmoil of its fiery characters. Cloaked in mist, these lands have a magnetic feel to them. To experience this epic, gothic atmosphere firsthand, you have to go beyond Top Withens and head to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The film Wuthering Heights was shot there.

Time is needed to explore this stretch of moorland. Located in northern England, the rural scenery is captivating with its rolling green hills, ruins, rivers, and waterfalls. Amid this near-deserted landscape, one comes across ancient castles and farmhouses, as well as plenty of cows. Scenes from the film were shot in Swaledale, Arkengarthdale, and the village of Low Row. During filming, Margot Robbie stayed at the Simonstone Hall, a scenic four-star hotel near the village of Hawes. The staff even received autographs from the actress and described her as very kind and friendly.

Where to stay in Yorkshire and how to get there

If you are looking for accommodation in Yorkshire, consider the Hollins Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club, a four-star property located in a park with a pool and a spa. Another great option is the Stone House Hotel in Hawes, an Edwardian home from 1908, offering a breathtaking view over the Yorkshire Dales.
