The fashion and music industries are falling for Jordan Hemingway’s vision
Why is photographer and director Jordan Hemingway generating such fascination in the fashion and music worlds? Born in New Jersey to a jazz musician father and a doctor mother, the 33-year-old London-based creative shapes images that seem to follow your gaze as you look at them. His secret? A sharp understanding of beautiful strangeness and a way of pulling viewers into worlds where sensuality teeters on the edge of unease.
Yet, nothing seemed to predispose him to such a path. “I grew up in a little sleepy farm town outside of Princeton, New Jersey, with nothing to do, expect to take drugs or play sports,” he told 032c magazine. He then added: “Skateboarding saved me and got me out. My grand delusion was that I was going to be a professional skateboarder.”
Like many of his peers, an injury stopped his ambition. During his recovery, he picked up a camera and taught himself how to take pictures through online forums. Obviously, his first models were his skater friends.
This street education proved invaluable. Now represented by the prestigious MA World Group agency, he has managed to convince even the most discerning fashion houses. And saying his portfolio is impressive would be an understatement. His collaborators include Prada, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Mugler and Vivienne Westwood. A resume that speaks volumes about his ability to appeal both to luxury brands and the editorial avant-garde. His distinctive touch can be found in the constant play on textures, fluids, looming darkness and movement of bodies, sometimes pushed to the point of gleeful excess…
An explosive encounter with FKA twigs
It is impossible to talk about Jordan Hemingway without mentioning his artistic (and intimate) relationship with FKA twigs. The exceptional British musician and performer had her music video Striptease (2025) directed by the American artist. Filmed in the tunnel of a highway in Marseille, France, she contorts herself as she continues the extraterrestrial odyssey of her album Eusexua (2025). A minimalist projection of her radical techno work, later extended by the follow-up project Eusexua Afterglow (2025).
Their romantic relationship was made public three years ago. In March 2023, the Daily Mail published a series of photos showing the couple leaving a Louis Vuitton after party. On social media, the singer took the lead: “The whole of my career, I’ve been hunted for who I am dating. So, this time I’m taking control of the situation. His name is Jordan Hemingway, a beautiful artist whose heart has restored my faith in love.”

Between performance and highly-referenced works
Between the photographer and the performer, it is above all a matter of artistic vision. Both operate in a shared space where dance merges with image, where music video blurs into performance art. Striking collaborations have come out of it, starting with the video for Perfect Stranger (2025). This dense visual piece in which bodies are stretching and light is sculpting form.
Together, they go as far as reinterpreting the provocations of Allen Jones, the British pop art figure known for his sculptures that turned the female body into furniture in an unsettling way. His Green Table Sculpture (1972), reimagined in the video mentioned above, already addressed the blurry line between human and object, desire and discomfort. Jordan Hemingway clearly inherits this legacy. In his work too, the body becomes design – a vessel for beauty that never quite puts the viewer at ease.
An avant-garde campaign for Gentle Monster
2026 has just started, and the couple is already unveiling a new creative project. Alongside FKA twigs, Jordan Hemingway co-directed the Bouquet Collection campaign for Gentle Monster, the South Korean brand founded in 2011 by Kim Hankook.
Staying true to its experimental aesthetic, this latest collection draws directly from the delicate architecture of plant stems, offering a line of eyewear adorned with loops, interlacing, and knots reminiscent of botanical structures.
Set to an unreleased track by FKA twigs created for the occasion, the campaign video follows the transformation of a bud into a flower. A barely veiled metaphor for a transcendent energy. A oneiric in-between where nature becomes electric and performance becomes organic.
Meanwhile, immersive pop-up stores are blooming in six global cities. Monumental floral sculptures in saturated hues, dramatic textures, and a chrome statue are on display. In short, Jordan Hemingway‘s work brought to life in three dimensions.

A first exhibition at Acne Paper in Paris
As Paris Fashion Week reaches its peak in late January 2026, Jordan Hemingway is presenting his work in the French capital for the first time. Held at Acne Paper, Angels With Dirty Faces explores the beauty and macabre through a series of portraits featuring distinctive celebrities and artists, including Marina Abramović, Yves Tumor, and Mariacarla Boscono.
“They are creatures of culture, drunk on lust and freedom. With clenched fists and sleepless eyes, they are completely full of life. Birthed from the darkness, they collectively show the dichotomies in all if us: strength and resistance, vulnerability and beauty,” Jordan Hemingway explained in his exhibition notes.
The exhibition is mainly in a spectrum of monochromes, offering a meticulous study of icons and ancestral rituals. It explores how they are experienced and embodied through movement and the human form. Individually and collectively, each work reveals the multiple contrasts that guide our humanity and spirituality.
A theatrical journey through the sacred and profane, following in the artistic tradition of exploration and confrontation. The main figures inspiring the show range from Andy Warhol to Joel-Peter Witkin.
“Angels With Dirty Faces” by Jordan Hemingway, open until March 15th, 2026, at Acne Paper Royal, 124 Galerie de Valois, Paris 1st.
