Halina Reijn presents Please, after the phenomenon Babygirl

Less than two years after the success of Babygirl (2024), a striking erotic thriller starring superstar Nicole Kidman and breakout actor Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness), Dutch director Halina Reijn is already stepping back behind the camera for a major production backed by A24 studios.

According to early reports by Variety, Please will be in the same vein as Babygirl and might come out in 2027. Blending romance and psychological tension, the feature will be set in an earlier historical period, however. While the plot details remain under wraps for now, the film is already making people talk because of its cast…

Gracie Abrams takes her first steps in cinema

On paper, the idea of yet another film featuring a music star turned actress might seem quite boring. We have seen countless examples, from Taylor Swift to Ariana Grande. But casting Gracie Abrams could turn out to be a particularly smart move.

The reason? The Californian singer endorsed by Billie Eilish and Charli xcx, known for her album The Secret of Us (2024), is no stranger to the world of cinema. She is, in fact, the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias, Star Trek) and girlfriend of Irish actor Paul Mescal (Hamnet, Gladiator 2). A well-connected circle, which could certainly help ease her into the world of Hollywood sets.

Beyond her impressive entourage, her artistic sensitivity and distinctive presence are what make the 26-year-old artist a credible new face for the big screen. With Please, she may well surprise us and establish herself as one of the breakout stars of the coming years.

Please (2027) by Halina Reijn does not have an official release date yet.
