Tom Holland slips back into his Spider-Man suit in Brand New Day

Five years after the global triumph of Marvel’s film No Way Home, British actor Tom Holland is set to don the Spider-Man suit once again. The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, slated for theatrical release July 29th, 2026, shows an isolated hero undergoing huge change… American actress Zendaya is also back in this sequel, alongside actor Jon Bernthal.

The anticipation was carefully orchestrated. Before the online release of the official trailer, British actor Tom Holland launched an unusual marketing campaign. Fragmented clips were released one by one across fan accounts on Instagram. The final reveal took the shape of a digital treasure hunt.

The 29-year-old actor appeared atop the Empire State Building, surrounded by children, to celebrate the arrival of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Coming out in cinemas on July 29th, 2026, the fourth installment in the MCU saga is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021).

Four years after the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker has vanished from the memories of those closest to him, especially the one he loves, MJ (Zendaya). Spider-Man, however, still watches over New York. But the man behind the mask now lives alone. The protagonist is also undergoing a dangerous physical transformation — a mutation in his DNA — as new crimes spread across the city. The tone feels darker than in the previous films and could mark a more mature turn for the franchise.

Zendaya and Sadie Sink join the cast

Alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo will portray Bruce Banner. Regarding antagonistic characters, the cast expands. Jon Bernthal will take on the role of Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, whose brutal methods promise to clash head-on with those of the web-slinger. Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) will be equipped with a high-tech suit to embody Scorpion, while the Hand, a ninja organization of Japanese origin, will also make its entrance.

As for actress Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), her role remains unknown for now. But rumour has it that she could play Jean Grey, thus potentially bridging the story with the X-Men. In the wake of Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s comeback in No Way Home, everyone is eager to see the surprises in store for this new installment…
