At the Roberto Cavalli show, Italian fashion takes on a rock twist
Fausto Puglisi took everyone by surprise at the Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter 2026-2027 show. The Italian designer unveiled a mainly black, rock-infused, sensual collection.

Roberto Cavalli, or Italian-style rock aesthetic
If there is one stylistic influence one would never have associated with Roberto Cavalli, it is rock. Yet, for its Fall/Winter 2026-2027 show, the Italian house embraces it with disconcerting confidence.
Under the creative direction of Fausto Puglisi, this Italian take on rock is neither literal nor nostalgic. Quite the contrary, in fact. It is dramatic, sensual and appears as a projection, a fantasy even. Truth be told, transalpine culture is not known as a pioneer of the genre.

Romantic and glamorous black
This winter, Roberto Cavalli sets aside its usual chromatic exuberance. Instead, the season is ruled by a dense, textured black palette. As a symbol of infinite possibilities, black becomes an exploration from shadow to light. This dramatic glamour lays the foundation of a sharp silhouette, imbued with a nocturnal rock energy.
Smooth or crinkled leather, glossy vinyl, diaphanous lace and deep velvet are layered in a masterful play of contrasts. Sheer dresses are on the verge of provocation, while structured jackets, wide-leg trousers and vertiginous boots shape the silhouette of a modern rock star. One who is perhaps less flamboyant, but just as magnetic.
The body, a central element for Roberto Cavalli, is softly enhanced here, like a covert sensuality. The house’s signature prints are present, but take on a nocturnal tone. A photographic silver fox lights up some silk twill shirt dresses with velvet detailing and printed chiffon slips.
Although the Italian house claims a Y2K spirit, this collection draws more deeply from the 1980s. The show’s soundtrack made that clear with a remix of the iconic 1983 track Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics.
