Voici le nouveau sujet favori des bookmakers anglais. Deux ans après Mourir Peut Attendre, le James Bond de Cary Joji Fukunaga pensé comme l’ultime volet de Daniel Craig en agent 007, chacun attend de savoir qui reprendra le flambeau. Après George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Sean Connery ou encore Pierce Brosnan, plusieurs acteurs sont pressentis pour incarner l’agent secret James Bond créé en 1953 par l’écrivain britannique – et ancien espion – Ian Fleming dans le roman Casino Royale. Après les rumeurs Tom Hardy, Idriss Elba, Tom Hiddleston ou Michael Fassbender, voici les quatre acteurs en lice…

1. Aaron Taylor-Johnson : de Kick-Ass à James Bond

Une version jeune de John Lennon dans Nowhere Boy (2009), un héros raté dans Kick-Ass (2010), un chimiste trafiquant de drogue dans Savages (2012), un tueur à gages moustachu dans Bullet Train (2022)… L’acteur britannique de 32 ans Aaron Taylor-Johnson pourrait bien succéder à Daniel Craig dans le rôle de James Bond. S’il a déjà été dirigé par Christopher Nolan dans Tenet et combattu une horde d’Alien aux côtés des Avengers dans le costume de Quicksilver, l’acteur a, malgré tout, déjà manqué un rôle de peu. Il y a quelques années, il était pressenti pour incarner l’homme araignée dans The Amazing Spider-Man avant qu’Andrew Garfield ne le coiffe au poteau. Habitué des films d’action, Aaron Taylor-Johnson pourrait parfaitement camper l’agent secret, d’autant qu’il incarnait déjà un chevalier écossais dans Outlaw King (2018) de David Mackenzie. D’après les rumeurs, l’acteur aurait déjà rencontré les membres de la production du prochain opus qui cherchent un acteur plutôt célèbre mais pas une superstar. 

2. Regé-Jean Page, la star de La Chronique des Bridgerton sur Netflix

Né au Zimbabwe – d’une mère zimbabwéenne et d’un père anglais – Regé-Jean Page décroche son premier rôle sérieux dans Waterloo Road, feuilleton de BBC One dans lequel il incarne Guy Braxton un jeune professeur d’art homosexuel. Il a alors 25 ans. Trois ans plus tard, il rejoint le casting de Racines, nouvelle version du célèbre programme des années 70 centré sur les horreurs de l’esclavage. Mais c’est un tout autre rôle qui lui ouvre la voie du succès… En 2020, il incarne le duc de Hastings, Simon Basset, dans La Chronique des Bridgerton, adaptation libre des romans éponymes de l’Américaine Julia Quinn. Diffusée sur Netflix, la série fait un véritable carton et propulse sa carrière. Lancée sur les réseaux sociaux, la rumeur James Bond enfle peu à peu du côté d’Hollywood…

3. Henry Cavill, de Superman aux services secrets

Le rôle de James Bond ne serait que la suite logique pour Henry Cavill, lui qui a déjà enfilé le costume d’un agent secret par deux fois. D’abord en 2015 dans Agents très spéciaux : Code UNCLE (Napoleon Solo) puis en 2018 dans Mission Impossible : Fallout où il fait équipe avec Ethan – Tom Cruise – Hunt. L’acteur britannique sculptural peut se targuer d’être à la fois Superman au cinéma et Sherlock dans la série Enola Holmes sur Netflix. Si le nom de l’acteur charismatique a été évoqué à de nombreuses reprises, son âge (39 ans) pourrait jouer en sa défaveur car les producteurs souhaite trouver un homme capable d’incarner le personnage pendant de longues années pour renouveler la franchise.

4. Lucien Laviscount : le british d’Emily in Paris sur Netflix

Son personnage d’Alfie dans la série Emily in Paris diffusée sur la plateforme Netflix a fait décoller sa carrière. À 30 ans, l’acteur anglais d’origine trinidadienne se rêvait musicien dans les années 2010 mais son premier titre Dance With You ne rencontre malheureusement pas le succès. Dans la deuxième saison d’Emily in Paris, c’est en banquier blasé prétendant d’Emily qu’il parvient à conquérir les spectateurs. Pressenti pour incarner l’agent 007, son passage dans la télé-réalité Big Brother en 2011 pourrait bien lui porter préjudice…

Rumors had it that Tom Hardy, Idriss Elba, Tom Hiddleston, or Michael Fassbender would embody the next James Bond, but four new candidates are in competition for the role…

1. Aaron Taylor-Johnson: from Kick-Ass to James Bond

A young version of John Lennon in Nowhere Boy (2009), an antihero in Kick- Ass (2010), a drug-dealing chemist in Savages (2012), a hitman with a mustache in Bullet Train (2022)… The 32-year-old British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson could succeed to Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. Although he already worked with Christopher Nolan in Tenet and fought a pack of aliens as Quicksilver with the Avengers, the actor has already missed out on a lead role. A few years ago, he was considered for the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, before Andrew Garfield pipped him at the post. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is used to action films, would be perfect for the role of the secret agent, especially since he has previously played a Scottish knight in David Mackenzie’s 2018 film Outlaw King. Rumors has it that the actor has already met with the production team of the next opus and that they are looking for a quite famous actor rather than a superstar.

Playing the role of James Bond would be the logical follow-up for Henry Cavill, who has already donned the suit of a secret agent twice. Lors de la 96e cérémonie des Oscars qui avait lieu le 10 mars 2024, l’acteur irlandais Cillian Murphy a remporté l’Oscar du meilleur acteur pour son rôle de Robert Oppenheimer dans le film homonyme de Christopher Nolan. Et depuis quelques semaines, une rumeur enfle…D’après le tabloïd The Sun, il pourrait prochainement endosser le rôle du plus célèbre des agents secrets. C’est en tout cas ce qu’affirme Barbara Broccoli, coproductrice des dernières adaptations cinématographiques de la série des James Bond avec son demi-frère Michael G. Wilson. L’acteur Clay Bunker, également au casting du long-métrage Oppenheimer a notamment déclaré dans les colonnes du journal : “Cillian est l’homme le plus gentil qui soit, mais est doté d’une part sombre. Nous oublions parfois que le James Bond de Ian Fleming est un personnage plutôt obscur…”
