In 2017, Italian actress Monica Bellucci took on the role of ceremony host at the Cannes Film Festival, succeeding French actor Laurent Lafitte. She will be joined by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, president of the jury. Far from being a newbie on the red carpet, the captivating actress, who rose to fame thanks to her performance in Giuseppe Tornatore‘s famous Malèna (2001), is a regular at the international film festival. Back in 2006, she was a member of the jury chaired by Chinese director and producer Wong Kar-wai.

As an actress, Monica Bellucci climbed the stairs to present different projects, including Stephen Hopkins’s feature Suspicion (2000) or Gaspar Noé‘s thriller Irréversible (2002). This May, the Italian star flew to Cannes to promote Léa Mysius’s new feature The Birthday Party (2026).
