The 2025 Cannes Film Festival is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year, attracting top-tier personalities from the world of cinema. The red carpet, as always, will become a gathering spot for major stars, both emerging and established, ready to dazzle spectators and create unforgettable moments. Here are the stars set to shine at this 78th edition of the festival.

    French stars at the festival

Opening the festival, Bastien Bouillon and Juliette Armanet will present Partir un jour by Amélie Bonnin. Among the French contingent, Virginie Efira, Vincent Lacoste, and Mathieu Amalric will promote Vie privée by Rebecca Zlotowski. Lyna Khoudri is expected for Les Aigles de la République.

Juliette Binoche returns to the Croisette as jury president. Director Julia Ducournau, known for her electrifying Titane in 2021, will present her third feature, Alpha, starring Golshifteh Farahani, Tahar Rahim, and British actress Emma Mackey.

Isabelle Huppert is expected for La Femme la plus riche du Monde by Thierry Klifa, where she plays a powerful businesswoman entangled in a romance with a writer-photographer portrayed by Laurent Lafitte.

Nadia Tereszkiewicz, acclaimed for Les Amandiers and Mon Crime, will represent Testa o croce, an Italian western. Alex Lutz is presenting Connemara, adapted from Nicolas Mathieu’s novel, co-starring Bastien Bouillon and Mélanie Thierry. Léa Drucker may attend for Dossier 137 by Dominik Moll. And surprisingly, Mylène Farmer could appear for Dalloway by Yann Gozlan, alongside Cécile de France and Anna Mouglalis.

From May 14 to 22, La Semaine de la critique, known for its focus on female directors, will open with L’Intérêt d’Adam by Laura Wandel, starring Anamaria Vartolomei and Léa Drucker. Des preuves d’amour by Alice Douard could also bring Monia Chokri and Ella Rumpf to Cannes.

Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone among the stars attending the festival

Director Wes Anderson returns with The Phoenician Scheme, featuring a star-studded cast: Scarlett Johansson, Benicio del Toro, Bill Murray, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Tom Cruise may attend for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, while Diane Kruger stars in Amrum, shown in the Cannes Première selection.

British actor Harris Dickinson will debut as a director with Urchin. Robert De Niro, likely to receive an honorary Palme d’Or, may also attend.

The History Of Sound may bring Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal, while Ari Aster‘s Eddington includes Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler. Dakota Johnson is likely for Splitsville by Michael Angelo Covino. Jodie Foster returns for Vie Privée, and A$AP Rocky and Denzel Washington may accompany Spike Lee’s new film Highest 2 Lowest.

Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert Pattinson also coming to Cannes

A supplementary film selection, announced April 23, brings more glamour: Kristen Stewart could present her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, starring Imogen Poots and Kim Gordon. Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are anticipated for Die, My Love by Lynne Ramsay. Ethan Coen’s midnight screening of Honey Don’t! features Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans.

Will Léa Seydoux and Charli XCX be walking up the Cannes steps?

Additional potential guests include Tilda Swinton (The Fountains of Paradise), Angelina Jolie (Couture), Léa Seydoux (Silent Friend), and Cate Blanchett (Father Mother Sister Brother).

Olivia Wilde and Charli XCX might attend for I Want Your Sex, if it enters competition. However, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, and Salma Hayek won’t be there for Sacrifice, as its selection seems unlikely.
