Spider-Noir, a new original Spider-Man series
Created in 2009, the Marvel Universe superhero Spider-Man Noir lives in New York in the 1930s, during the Great Depression hitting the United States. This film noir takes the audience into a world filled with brooding detectives and gangsters. After being bitten by a spider coming out of a mystical artifact, young Peter Parker discovers he now possesses supernatural powers and becomes a vigilante.
This darker version of Spider-Man, whose demeanor recalls the enigmatic Rorschach from Watchmen, does not hesitate to use lethal force against his enemies… The famous protagonist is about to rise from the ashes thanks to this new series.
Scheduled for release in 2026 on Prime Video, the show Spider-Noir will star Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, and not as Peter Parker. The actor previously lent his voice to the character in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). This time, he will portray an aging private investigator facing his past as a lone superhero in a city overrun by crime. Created by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, the series will be available both in black and white and in colour.
Nicolas Cage’s slow creative rebirth
After a period marked by less notable projects, Nicolas Cage has recently experienced a true creative rebirth. His acclaimed performances in films like Mandy (2018), Pig (2021), and Dream Scenario (2023) have reaffirmed his ability to embody complex and intense characters. His role in Spider-Noir perfectly fits this renewed momentum, allowing him to explore a darker, more introspective side of the superhero archetype.
The series also marks yet another collaboration between the actor and the superhero genre. The American actor had previously played in Ghost Rider and Kick-Ass, alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson. His portrayal of Spider-Man Noir promises to bring an unprecedented depth to that character.
