The 2025 Met Gala: a turning point in Wales Bonner’s story

Last May, the Met Gala shone a light on many designers, whose names were familiar within the fashion industry but had yet to capture the public attention. From Torishéju to Ugo Mozie and Magda Butrym, the iconic event offered celebrities and young labels alike a chance to shine.

First and foremost, Wales Bonner, who dressed Lewis Hamilton, Jeff Goldblum, and FKA Twigs. Their looks were noticed by everyone and for good reason! Inspired by the theme of the event, “Superfine Style,” the British designer extended that vision into her Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Drawing on the opulence and elegance of 1930s eveningwear, she designed a preppy line peppered with irresistibly chic blue collars and leather gloves.

    Brooches and a collaboration with Y-3 for Spring/Summer 2026

The collection features clean, tailored silhouettes reminiscent of classic suits – shirts, long coats, and tailored ensembles. Some are revamped with pieces made with Y-3, such as straight tracksuits, oversized vinyl bags, and sneakers adorned with leather. Among the key pieces is a stunning beige linen suit paired with a striped top – the epitome of vintage chic. The wardrobe evokes the old-style of a gentleman, who has been gently brought into the present.

The theme and elegant aesthetic of this Spring/Summer 2026 collection are captured in the title: “Jewel.” A ring, a watch, a necklace… All these accessories represent a form of preciousness, both material and sentimental, especially when passed down through generations.

A jewel serves as the finishing touch to each look, embodying not just the theme of the Met Gala but also the brand’s heritage. This show marks the 10-year journey of Wales Bonner and brings together all her inspirations, season after season. With diamond brooches adorning the lapels of a jacket or a coat and the berets designed by Stephen Jones, Wales Bonner envisions heirlooms that can be worn and handed down to future generations.
