Ray-Ban auctions a pair of NFT sunglasses designed by a subversive artist
For the very first time, a pair of NFT (Non-Fungible Token) sunglasses is being auctioned, signed Ray-Ban, and designed in collaboration with a most subversive artist.
While works of art, objects and clothing have already been sold in the form of NFTs ( Non Fungible Tokens, digital certificates authenticating an original digital work), no pair of sunglasses has yet been involved. Until now. Iconic eyewear manufacturer Ray-Ban has just launched its very first pair of sunglasses in NFT, a unique pair staged in a work designed by German artist Oliver Latta, aka Extraweg, known for his provocative and disturbing 3D motion design videos.
Mainly on Instagram, he stages rather repulsive bodies or scenes, which he embellishes with pastel tones. For this one-of-a-kind NFT, the artist created a video in which the face of a smiling man wearing Ray-Ban’s flagship Aviator model rotates endlessly in a hypnotic circle. To obtain it, a digital auction, with proceeds going to charity, is currently underway on OpenSea, a site dedicated to this market.
The NFT by Ray-Ban and Extraweg is up for auction on opensea.io until October 29.
