In Milan, Zegna turns the family wardrobe into the wardrobe of the future
On Friday, January 16th, 2026, in Milan, Alessandro Sartori presented his Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection for Zegna. Inspired by the notion of the “family wardrobe,” the show marked Chinese actor William Chan’s runway debut as new ambassador of the house.
A Zegna runway show centered on transmission
On January 16th, 2026, Zegna unveiled its show beneath the dome of the Palazzo del Ghiaccio during Milan Fashion Week. A solemn setting for family wardrobes to take center stage. And a far cry from the Dubai Opera House in June 2025. Family is the narrative thread of this Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection, titled A Family Closet. A reflection on time, continuity, and transmission at the heart of Zegna’s identity.
In his show’s notes, Alessandro Sartori sums up his approach: “As a consciously chosen outer layer, clothes are the pages of a diary we write throughout our existence. In this collection, a generational passing of the baton happens inside a family closet, where belongings are protected for other members of the family to use.”
A wardrobe made up of loose, adaptable silhouettes
On the runway, this concept takes shape through casual, yet sharply defined silhouettes. A hallmark of Alessandro Sartori, who has been Zegna’s artistic director for the past ten years. Volumes are generous, while the cuts are intentionally deconstructed. Blazers, evoking multiple eras, feature double lapels. Jackets and bombers are adorned with layered collars.
With shearling bombers and a few textured knit pieces, the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 menswear collection strikes a balance between formal and informal, blurring the lines of traditional tailoring. This functional, yet elegant approach, true to Zegna’s core, encourages wearers to reinterpret family garments in their own way, from one generation to the next.
William Chan, new ambassador of the house of Zegna
One of the standout moments of the show was the appearance of Chinese actor and singer William Chan, recently seen in the film See Her Again. This show marked his debut on the catwalk and officially sealed a collaboration that began in 2018, built on a shared vision of an understated and assertive fashion. “After a long-standing collaboration with Zegna, I’m honored to join this century-old, timeless house,” he shared in a statement.
Appointed global ambassador for the brand, William Chan now joins a constellation of talents already linked to Zegna. That includes Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen and tennis player Alexander Zverev. In January 2025, it was none other than actor John Turturro who made waves on the runway. The latter starred in the series Severance (2025) and in Pedro Almodóvar’s film The Room Next Door (2024). That artistic encounter once again showcased the house’s ability to bridge heritage and modernity, while remaining firmly rooted in the present.
