After a series of sensational appearances at the Paris Fall/Winter 2025-2026 Fashion Week, American singer Chappell Roan keeps on rising in the fashion world. In April 2025, the artist sported a Victorian-inspired Alexander McQueen gown at the Los Angeles Fashion Awards and, today, she has been named new ambassador of M.A.C Cosmetics. Some irresistible hits – Hot to Go!, Pink Pony Club, Good Luck, Babe! – and standout performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza and Tiny Desk Concert… Chappell Roan, 27, has cemented her place as a new force in pop music, alongside Charli XCX, Addison Rae, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Chappell Roan, pop’s new star with extravagant looks
The artist, who opened for Olivia Rodrigo, has been acclaimed by major figures, such as Troye Sivan, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Elton John. Awarded at the 2025 Grammy Awards, she is now known for both her electrifying music, strong stances – especially on musicians’ mental health – and bold, burlesque sense of style.
The new pop sensation certainly made a splash during her first appearance on red carpet of the Met Gala last May. Chappell Roan stepped out in a flamboyant pink suit adorned with glittery fur, designed by American costume designer Paul Tazewell. A true disco, or funk, queen look.
Looks inspired by drag queens
On stage and during her public appearances, Chappell Roan champions a flamboyant camp aesthetic reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s extravagance and of the iconic drag queen Divine, muse of John Waters.
Donning Joan of Arc-inspired armor, a shimmering majorette bodysuit, a Statue of Liberty cosplay, colorful wrestler outfits, circus-inspired makeup, porcelain-like skin… The queer singer from the Midwest draws from cabaret, aerobics, and theater to create memorable looks. She even posed with a pig snout on her face at one point.
Standout appearances at Paris Fashion Week
In her early days, Chappell Roan crafted some of her own outfits and posted makeup tutorials online for her fans, even suggesting dress codes for her concerts. Today, she cites gay bars in West Hollywood, Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled (2017), Stevie Nicks, and Lana Del Rey as inspirations. She also collaborates with major fashion houses, guided by her visionary stylist Genesis Webb.
While she still embraces kitsch and a “bigger than life” spirit, her aesthetic has become increasingly sophisticated. At the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 Paris Fashion Week, she wore a floral princess gown by Valentino, a gothic-punk black total look at Vivienne Westwood, and a feathered raven headdress at Matières Fécales… Each ensemble becomes a true fashion moment for the new M.A.C Cosmetics ambassador, named this December 2025. An artist to watch closely as she rises in both the music and fashion industries.
