Bootcut jeans stand out as this season’s new trend

What is the bootcut trend?

Kendrick Lamar put bootcut jeans in the spotlight when he sported a Celine denim by Hedi Slimane at the Super Bowl half-time show last week. Somewhere between flare and slim fits, bootcut jeans that are slightly flared at the calf are set to make a comeback.

Co-signed by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez or Sydney Sweeney, this denim classic from the 2000s hugs the hips and buttocks, while adding a touch of retro and disco to the silhouette.

Very cowboy-like on Bella Hadid and Beyoncé, bootcut jeans can be worn high or low-waisted, faded or plain, and with heeled boots for an assertive Y2K look. But the 2025 bootcut trend is shifting into sneakers – a simple, effective approach already spotted on Kendrick Lamar.
