Sofia Coppola, Piu Piu… The thrilling lineup of the Cinéma Paradiso Louvre Festival
From the 2nd to the 5th of July, 2025, the Cinéma Paradiso festival will take over the Louvre for a series of concerts, fine dining, and open-air screenings, including The Virgin Suicides by Sofia Coppola, In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai, and The Secret Agent by Kleber Mendonça Filho, winner at Cannes Film Festival this year.

Over fifteen years ago, the two heads of the company Mk2, Elisha and Nathanaël Karmitz, set out to make the big screen experience even more powerful and unique. How to bring such a vision to life? By dismantling the monolithic image that often looms over cinema. With the Karmitz brothers’ initiative, the seventh art found itself intertwined with other creative forms – music, gastronomy, contemporary art, and video games.
Cinéma Paradiso, an open-air film festival at the Louvre
Together, they called this concept “Paradiso”, turning Paris into the testing ground for all their experiments. In 2013 and 2015, they transformed the Grand Palais into a drive-in theater. The first edition also featured the concept store Colette. Other standout moments? Events hosted by Le Baron and Wanderlust, two iconic Parisian nightlife venues. These marked the launch of the first two editions of the Cinéma Paradiso Louvre festival.

Since then, they have opened Europe’s very first virtual reality cinema, “MK2 VR”, inside the MK2 Bibliothèque multiplex. Although it closed in 2020, a similar venue opened shortly after. This time it was at the Parc des Princes, inside PSG Football Club’s facilities!
In March 2021, they inaugurated Europe’s first cinema-hotel, the Hotel Paradiso, located inside MK2 Nation in Paris. Keeping that in mind, the directors of the French production and distribution company have decided to extend the journey of the Cinéma Paradiso festival.
A 2025 edition with Sofia Coppola and Wong Kar-wai
From July 2th to 5th, 2025, the 5th edition of the festival will take place inside the Cour Carrée at the Louvre. On the menu? Open-air film screenings, concerts, DJ sets… Everything is designed to celebrate summer and the seventh art. With multiple bars, food trucks, and appearances by artists and figures from the cinema industry, festival-goers will be able to enjoy premieres, as well as classic cinematic gems on a massive 24-meter-wide screen.
This year, Cinéma Paradiso Louvre is seeing the big picture. DJ Piu Piu and the Fip Squad collective will be behind the decks. From New Soul Food’s Afro-Caribbean cuisine to Amorino’s ice creams, and Italian food trucks like Pizza del Popolo and Il Camioncino… this year’s culinary offerings will taste like summer.
A series of cinematic gems will follow one another on the silver screen. Among hem are the unmissable In the Mood for Love (2000) by Wong Kar-wai and The Virgin Suicides (1999) by Sofia Coppola. As a matter of fact, the latter will be present to introduce her cult debut feature.
The Cinéma Paradiso festival will also pay tribute to the great David Lynch, who passed away last January, with a screening of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Finally, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent, which won three awards at Cannes, will bring the open-air screenings to a close. The Brazilian filmmaker will also attend the event to present his film.
The 5th edition of the Cinéma Paradiso Festival will take place from July 2nd to 5th, 2025, in the Cour Carrée at the Louvre. Tickets available by drawing lots on mk2-festivalparadiso.com.
