It-girl Sky Ferreira makes her big musical comeback alongside Charli xcx

What if Sky Ferreira were truly back for good? The singer, songwriter, actress and model was one of the most flamboyant, rock’n’roll stars of the 2010s. At the time, she was described as an it-girl. A way of saying she was part of every project, party and major event, dazzling photographers with her soft grunge aura.

Now 33, the artist has starred in about ten films and in the third season of David Lynch’s series Twin Peaks. She also released an album and numerous singles. Yet, in recent years, Hedi Slimane’s former muse had grown notably discreet.

Masochism, a new album slated for 2026?

Discovered on Myspace, Sky Ferreira seems to have finally given up her early retirement. While her last releases dated back to 2019, the singer posted a video titled Coming Soon on YouTube and other social media platforms in 2022.

The clip featured the track Don’t Forget, along with a promising message. One can hear the artist sing over languid, shoegaze guitar riffs. In the caption of that short, enigmatic teaser were the words: “Remember me?” All signs pointed at a new album by the American singer, which could be titled Masochism, according to numerous rumours.

Sky Ferreira featured on the soundtracks of Babygirl and Wuthering Heights

This upcoming opus, conceived as a sequel to the singer’s excellent debut record Night Time, My Time (2013), might see the light of day in 2026 according to the star. In the meantime, the artist had auditioned to portray Madonna in an upcoming biopic about the scandalous pop icon. A role that would fit the blonde performer like a black lace glove. She is known for her provocative outfits and penchant for controversy – she posed nude on the famous art cover of her first LP. But the film has since been put on hold.

Fortunately, Sky Ferreira’s fans can finally rejoice. In December 2024, the singer released a track titled Leash for the soundtrack of the film Babygirl. The erotic thriller starring Nicole Kidman, released in January 2025, caused a stir for its numerous explicit and BDSM scenes. It also introduced a wave of new listeners to the Sky Ferreira phenomenon. The euphoric, shoegaze song only heightened the anticipation for more new material from the singer.

A duet with Charli xcx

Another piece of good news? In 2026, the singer makes a powerful comeback. Sky Ferreira was featured on one of Charli xcx‘s songs composed for the soundtrack of Emerald Fennell’s anticipated film Wuthering Heights. Their lush, romantic and hypnotic duet is one of the standout tracks on this lyrical, gothic score, which accompanies the feature starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The two singers had already collaborated on the hit Cross You Out in 2019, and their voices blend seamlessly once again.
