Goodbye June, a Netflix drama directed by Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet doesn’t have anything more to prove. She starred in Sense and Sensibility (1995) by Ang Lee, in James Cameron’s Titanic (1997), but also in films directed by Todd Haynes and Michel Gondry… After a successful acting career, starring in the biggest production and winning an Oscar for her role in The Reader – the star first turned to direction with the HBO show Mare of Easttown. She was even awarded the Emmy Award for Best Actress in 2021 with that series.
2024 showed us the range of her talent. Kate Winslet knows how to move and morph in front of the camera. From a paranoid chancellor in The Regime to war reporter Lee Miller in a biopic, the 49-year-old British actress excelled in those demanding roles last year, both acclaimed at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Despite both statues slipping through her fingers, her upcoming adventures may open new doors in exclusive cinema ceremonies. After starring in the highly-awaited Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), directed by James Cameron, Kate Winslet will play and direct the new Netflix film Goodbye June, scheduled for release on December 24th, 2025.

The Titanic actress navigates production and direction
The American media Screen Daily reported that it would be a Christmas family drama written by Joe Anders, also present for Lee Miller, who will sign up the first draft. The plot: “A drama about the estrangement of a group of siblings who had to reunite after going through difficult circumstances.”

In addition to the Titanic actress, the cast for Goodbye June includes Toni Collette (Hereditary), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie, The Regime), Helen Mirren, Johnny Flynn (Emma) and Timothy Spall.
With Goodbye June, Kate Winslet takes part of new female film directors, longing to craft their own narratives in Hollywood. Before her, Angelina Jolie, Zoë Kravitz and other French actresses participated in this positive trend.
