We are beginning to learn more about the upcoming César Awards ceremony, even though the list of films and actors nominated has yet to be announced. The event will be held on February 27th, 2026, at the Olympia in Paris and the name of the host of the ceremony has already been unveiled… French actor Benjamin Lavernhe.

Camille Cottin, president of the jury at the 2026 César Awards

The 41-year-old actor, known for his roles in En fanfare (2024), My Donkey, My Lover & I (2020), and Abbé Pierre – A Century of Devotion (2023), will host the 51st César Awards ceremony. The member of the Comédie-Française will take over from actor and director Jean-Pascal Zadi. As usual, several famous figures from French cinema will join him on stage to present the event. Although Benjamin Lavernhe has been nominated for a César several times, he has yet to win one.

Another name came out… That of French actress Camille Cottin, 46, will preside over the 2026 César Awards. She had already served as master of ceremonies at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The elegant and witty star of Out of Love (2025) is an excellent choice to carry out this prestigious role with flying colours.

In 2024, she confided in us about her role as master of ceremonies at Cannes: “I have to say, I’m a bit nervous. Right now, I’m watching all my predecessors. I’m rewatching some of the past ceremonies, which were very beautiful and elegant, and I’m trying to analyse them. Chiara Mastroianni, in particular, was magnificent. And now, I’ll have to put pen to paper. I’ll get some help, of course.

An Honorary César awarded to Jim Carrey

Another major announcement? American actor Jim Carrey will receive an Honorary César at the same ceremony celebrating his entire career. At 63, the Canadian-American comedian, producer, screenwriter, painter, and sculptor first made a name for himself in comedy before winning over audiences with darker, more introspective roles.

He notably starred in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), The Mask (1994), and Dumb and Dumber (1994). Known for his expressive, funny faces, he also shone in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and Bruce Almighty (2003), before moving audiences with his performances in The Truman Show (1998), Man on the Moon (1999), The Majestic (2001), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).

Nadia Melliti and Suzanne Lindon among the Revelations of 2026

On November 13, 2025, the César Academy also unveiled the list of those who could succeed Abou Sangaré in Souleymane’s Story and Maïwène Barthelemy in Holy Cow. The shortlist of the Revelations includes 32 names, who could compete in the categories for Most Promising Actress and Actor at the 2026 César Awards.

We will find out who makes it to the final list of nominees on January 19th during the Revelations Evening. There, the 32 rising actors will be accompanied by their mentors from the film industry. Among them are Suzanne Lindon for Colours of Time, Théodore Pellerin for Nino, Sayyid El Alami in Block Pass, and Nadia Melliti for The Little Sister.

The 51st César Awards ceremony will take place on February 27th, 2026, and be aired on Canal+.
