Behind the scenes of a major fashion house at the heart of a film with Lyna Khoudri

Scheduled for November 10 in theaters, Haute Couture is the second film by French writer and filmmaker Sylvie Ohayon, which will feature the backstage of one of the greatest French fashion houses.

If Sylvie Ohayon is best known for her novels, she is also a filmmaker, and had so far directed only one film, the comedy-drama Papa Was Not A Rolling Stone, in 2014. Seven years later, the French writer and director is back with a new feature film, called Haute Couture. As its name suggests, the film will go behind the scenes of one of the greatest French fashion houses:  that of Christian Dior. The plot will then follow Esther, head of the atelier within the house, who participates in her last haute couture collection before retiring.

As the big day approaches, she has her bag stolen in the subway by Jade, a twenty-year-old woman, who, several days later, decides to return her property because she is so consumed by remorse. After this act, Esther decided to take her under her wing and teach her the trade of seamstress so that she could join the workshops of the house of Dior. As for the cast of the feature film, it is composed of Nathalie Baye (
Garçon chiffon
) in the role of Esther, Lyna Khoudri (Papicha, Gagarine, The French Dispatch) as Jade, and Pascale Arbillot (Les Apparences, Miss) who will also play one of the workshop’s seamstresses.
