American actress Dakota Johnson, 35, is back to the sexy, romantic genre reminiscent of Fifty Shades of Grey with the film Materialists. Here’s everything we know about this exciting new project starring Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.

After the lukewarm reception of Madame Web, released in February 2024, the charismatic Dakota Johnson is taking on new projects, contrasting with superheroes and action movies. And they all look very interesting.
Anticipation is high for this romantic comedy, teased by captivating trailers. Indeed, Dakota Johnson does star in Materialists, the latest film by director Celine Song (Past Lives).
About the plot of this romcom, filmed in New York and coming out on July 2nd? “A woman starts a new relationship with a wealthy man, but still has feelings for a broke actor/waiter.”

In this new feature film, the actress embodies an ambitious matchmaker caught in a toxic love triangle with two irresistible partners, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. We can already imagine her having quite the hard time choosing between the two…
Produced by the infamous studio A24 (Euphoria, Midsommar), the film promises to offer a different twist on the typical romantic comedy, with an indie, intimate feel. The first leaked images from the shoot also suggest a particular attention given to styling. Just one more reason to count down to the film’s release date…
In the meantime, both Pedro Pascal and Dakota Johnson will be attending the Cannes Film Festival to promote their new films: Eddington and Splitsville.
