From wildlife to fantasy, Sean Brady’s crazy inspirations

Creating his own universe, his own imaginary world and giving free rein to his inventiveness, that is what make-up artist Sean Brady aspires to. First a model and then an agent, the young man explored the art of make-up during the Covid-19 pandemic and discovered a passion, but above all a real means of expression through which everything is possible.

With an Instagram account featuring more than 680 posts and exhibiting almost all of his work, we can distinguish a sensual style, sometimes close to sci-fi and also greatly inspired by the animal world. Constantly playing with the symmetries and facial lines, Sean Brady accentuates the cheekbones, insists on the features of the nose, redraws the eyebrows and the contours of the mouth, but what he loves above all is the work on the eyes, around which he often draws patterns and shadows that respond to each other.

Despite a career that is still in its infancy, the make-up artist, who has proven himself by assisting other make-up artists on many shows such as Ferragamo spring-summer 2025 or Hodakova and Rokh during the last Paris Fashion Week, is already well established in the fashion world and remains close to some great artists such as the singer Arca.

Interview with make-up artist Sean Brady

Numéro: How would you describe yourself in a few words?

Sean Brady: Deliberate, resourceful and curious.

What is your first beauty memory?

I would say Cate Blanchett in the film Elizabeth: The Golden Age, directed by Shekhar Kapur in 2007. It was a formative memory of beauty being both natural and devolve into austerity.

How would you describe your style?

Organic and intuitive.

Which meeting made the most impression on you?

During a personal project, I worked with the stylist Petta Chua which was an extremely enriching experience. Collaborating with inspiring people you admire is what gives me joy and helps me grow.

What has been the best experience of your career as a make-up artist?

It’s hard to say… So many things have had significant meaning to me at various points in my career. But I think my best experiences are my first times, my first beauty campaign for Mecca in Australia, my first magazine cover for Numéro Netherlands with Australian actor and singer Keiynan Lonsdale, my first high-paying job or my first Gucci Fall/Winter 2022-2023 show where I assisted make-up artist Thomas de Kluyver. And I’m sure the best is yet to come!!

What would be your dream job?

Oh deaaarrr that’s tough… When I was younger, I spent all my time on Tumblr, which allowed me to discover a lot of models that still fascinate me today. If I had to imagine my dream job, it would probably be to realise the glam of Devon Aioki for the cover of Vogue Japan or to work in-house as a beauty art director for a big brand. I’d be in heaven!!

What are your inspirations?

The Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, the painter René Magritte and the Australian artist Patricia Piccinini are personalities that I love and who’ll never cease to inspire me.

Sean Brady’s nude beauty routine

My beauty routine is very simple. First of all, I use a CeraVe cleanser and moisturiser and then as a base a MAC Cosmetics face and body as well as a contour stick from the Westman Atelier, always. As for make-up, I just love adopting very different styles…

Essentials to find at MAC and Westman Atelier

Some of my favorite products include MAC lip pencils, any colour really, the Westman Atelier contour stick in biscuit, that actually reads as a shadow and finally any black waterproof liner/stick/pot because a cunty black eye will never go out of fashion…
