The films and series to stream in December 2025

December 2025 promises to be an exciting month on streaming platforms. With the much-anticipated releases of the film Jay Kelly (2025), starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler on Netflix, the new season of Emily in Paris, the long-awaited documentary Taylor Swift: The End of an Era on Disney+ and the dive into the world of F1 with Brad Pitt on Apple TV+… The streaming giants are pulling out all the stops to keep us entertained through the holiday season.

    December 2025 on Netflix with George Clooney and Lily Collins

    Netflix wraps up the year on a high note with an emotionally charged lineup, long-awaited returns and major releases. Starting on December 1st, 2025, Bong Joon-ho’s masterpiece Parasite (2019) lands on the streaming platform. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, this thriller stars Song Kang-ho and explores South Korea’s strong economic and social divides.

    Following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival last summer, Noah Baumbach’s new feature film Jay Kelly will hit Netflix on December 5th. The film follows renowed actor George Clooney and his manager (played by Adam Sandler) on a European road trip. That impressive cast also includes Laura Dern, Riley Keough, Greta Gerwig, and Isla Fisher.

    The new chapter of the Knives Out saga, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, will come out on December 12th. Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor will be at the heart of an unsolvable mystery. This month also brings more excitement as Emily in Parisretitled Emily in Rome – is back for a fifth season full of twists and turns on December 18th. In Rome, Emily (Lily Collins) is running her new agency, while facing risky career choices that threaten her love life…

    On December 24th, Netflix will unveil a moving Christmas story with Goodbye June, a family drama with Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet, who also directs the project. The story follows a terminally ill mother, who gathers her family for one last Christmas. Finally, the year ends with a bang on December 26th with the last four episodes of Stranger Things season 5, leading up to the final showdown against Vecna on January 1st.

    As for Disney+, the platform ends the year with a program blending fantasy and pop culture icons. On December 2nd, the episode 7 of All’s Fair season 1, starring Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close, will give viewers more insight into the storyline as tensions between lawyers and the media continue to rise.

    December 5th welcomes two iconic animated films on the platform – Inside Out 2 (2024), a tender exploration of the emotions of a new generation, and Azur & Asmar (2006), Michel Ocelot’s animated tale celebrating friendship through enchanting settings.

    Fantasy fans will also have something to look forward to. On December 10th, the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will it the platform. The son of Poseidon will resume his epic quest through mythological battles and revelations about his origins. Finally, on December 12th, pop fans will be treated to the headline docuseries Taylor Swift: The End of an Era. The American superstar will take us behind-the-scenes of her latest world tour.

    HBO Max and Paramount+: Rami Malek and Orlando Bloom on the December list

    The month of December promises high emotion and big names on HBO Max and Paramount+. On December 6th, French actor Jean Dujardin will step back into the 1970s in La French (2012). Cédric Jimenez‘s film is a deep dive into the infamous Marseille-based “French Connection”. That same day, the comedy-thriller The Big Short (2015) will star Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Ryan Gosling in the midst of the American financial crisis excesses.

    On December 10th, action and espionage will take center stage with a re-release of the classic Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Then, on December 17th, nature will unleash its fury in Twisters (2024), a breathtaking disaster film featuring Glen Powell. Lovers of classic romance won’t be left out, since Pride & Prejudice (2005) will be included in the catalogue on December 21st. Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) will electrify Christmas Eve with Rami Malek’s powerful portrayal of Freddie Mercury.

    Over on Paramount+, the spotlight shifts to the boxing ring with The Cut, coming out on December 12th. In this drama, Orlando Bloom plays an aging boxer grasping at one last shot at glory, under the direction of Sean Ellis. Faced with grueling training, personal sacrifice, and the ruthless methods of a merciless mentor, he must push his limits to reach the top of the arena…

    New releases on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video

    Starting December 3rd, Amazon Prime Video will premiere Merry Christmas, Mom! (2025), a family film directed by Michael Showalter. Michelle Pfeiffer embodies a mother who decides to take back control of the holidays. A blend of heartfelt humour and sharp truths.

    On December 12th, the Spanish romance Whisper To Me will land on Amazon Prime Video. Adapted from a novel written by Mercedes Ron, it follows Kami as her teenage years resurface when two brothers from her past return, stirring up memories, broken promises, and long-buried emotions.

    One of the highly anticipated releases of 2025 finally lands Apple TV+. The blockbuster F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Top Gun: Maverick), will premiere on December 12th. Brad Pitt stars as a top-tier racecar driver alongside, Damson Idris in this high-stakes sports drama, elevated by a score composed by Hans Zimmer.

    Lastly, the French series The Hunt (2026), starring Benoît Magimel and Mélanie Laurent, originally scheduled for release on December 3rd on Apple TV+, has been postponed.

    Frankenstein, among the must-watch series of 2025

    November 2025 saw the long-awaited release of Frankenstein, starring Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth. The film premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and finally made its debut on Netflix. On HBO Max, the sharp new voice of American comedy, Rachel Sennott, unveiled the series I Love LA. A hilarious and merciless take on the excesses of influencer culture and the obsession with image in Los Angeles.

    In October 2025, Culte: 2Be3 was a must-watch on Amazon Prime Video. The new anthology series, which had previously focused on Loft Story, now charts the meteoric rise of 2Be3, France’s first boy band, starring Antoine Simony as Filip Nikolic. Also last October, the James Bond saga was added to the Amazon Prime Video catalog, along with the film Eden, starring Jude Law, Ana de Armas and Vanessa Kirby.

    Last September, Netflix subscribers were treated to the second part of Wednesday, season 2, starring Lady Gaga. Also on the platform, the romantic comedy French Lover, starring Omar Sy and Sara Giraudeau, was worth watching. Meanwhile, Apple TV+ premiered Highest 2 Lowest, a new thriller by Spike Lee starring A$AP Rocky and Denzel Washington.

    The must-see films and series streaming last summer

    August 2025 saw several major releases on streaming platforms. Fans couldn’t miss the return of Jenna Ortega in the first part of Wednesday season 2. On Prime Video, Hollywood star Eddie Murphy led The Pickup, an explosive action comedy with Pete Davidson. And on Apple TV+, the third season of the sci-fi ensemble series Invasion, led by actress Golshifteh Farahani, was a must-watch.

    Last July, Lena Dunham‘s series Too Much, starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and Emily Ratajkowski, quickly became one of the platform’s flagship titles. On Disney+, viewers were treated to the re-release of All of Us Strangers (2024), an intimate fantasy drama by Andrew Haigh, starring Paul Mescal an Andrew Scott.

    June 2025 marked the return of the cult series Squid Game for a third season. On Apple TV+, the release of Echo Valley was not to be missed. The gripping family thriller, directed by Michael Pearce, starred Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney.

    In May on Netflix, Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock are back with the series Sirens, a sharp and addictive dark comedy. On Prime Video, Quentin Tarantino’s gem Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, made its debut on the platform. Meanwhile, Apple TV+ released Fountain of Youth (2025) by Guy Ritchie, an explosive adventure film starring Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, and Eiza González.

    Black Mirror was among the must-watch series streaming in April 2025

    April 2025 marked the return of Black Mirror with six brand-new episodes on Netflix. Prime Video premiered Étoile, a new creation by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino (Gilmore Girls). It offered a behind-the-scenes at a ballet company in New York and Paris, with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou de Laâge as the lead characters. On Disney+, the must-watch film was Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. And Apple TV+ presented Carême (April 30th), a series that explores the fascinating life of the first Michelin-starred chef who doubled as a spy under Napoleon, starring Benjamin Voisin and Lyna Khoudri.

    The must-see films and shows released earlier this year…

    In March 2025 on Netflix, the spotlight was on the highly-anticipated series Adolescence, as well as The Leopard, a modern reading of Luchino Visconti’s classic starring Deva Cassel. On Disney+, the series Daredevil: Born Again came out, alongside the family comedy Alexander and His Horrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Trip, starring Eva Longoria.

    February also offered some exciting new content for fans of series and indie cinema. On Max, the highly-awaited third season of The White Lotus premiered on February 17, while Apple TV+ unveiled The Gorge, a series starring Anya Taylor-Joy. On Netflix, viewers could watch Apple Cider Vinegar on February 6th, starring Kaitlyn Dever, which raises essential questions about the impact influencers have on our daily lives.

    January 2025 kicked off with a packed schedule, including thrilling series and gripping films. Guillaume Canet took the lead in Ad Vitam on Netflix, an addictive thriller in which he plays a former GIGN agent facing a state scandal. Regarding the Netflix series, the successful action series The Night Agent returned for a second season on January 23rd. And documentary enthusiasts enjoyed Don’t Die: The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever on January 1st, directed by Chris Smith.
