After Steven Spielberg and Joe Johnston’s legendary trilogy Jurassic Park and Colin Trevorrow’s first two Jurassic World, the dinosaurs are taking over the big screen once more. Jurassic World Dominion (2022), the third installment in the saga, will air on TMC this Monday, March 30th. Following the destruction of the volcanic island of Isla Nublar, where the dinosaurs once lived, Owen and Claire (played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard) are back.

Since then, life on earth has dramatically changed. People struggle to coexist with the dinosaurs – rooftops are inhabited by pterodactyls, waters are filled with megalodons and various other aquatic creatures.

The cast from the first Jurassic Park is back with new added characters

Thirty years ago, the very first Jurassic Park directed by Steven Spielberg enthralled audiences, led by the performances of Laura Dern, Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum as they resurrected the long-lost world of dinosaurs. The three world-famous actors have once again put on their researcher outfits, much to the greatest delight of their fans. Along with the main characters of this new trilogy are Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. In this new chapter, the protagonists have to find a peaceful balance between humans and dinosaurs, the largest living beings the earth has ever known.

The characters help each other, no matter what, in order to provide for both humans and dinosaurs, without ever trying to eradicate the latter. However, they could not make it without the help of new characters Kayla Watts, played by DeWanda Wise, and Ramsay Cole, embodied by Mamoudou Athie. Together, they succeed in maintaining some kind of cohabitation, while protecting the herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs from the evil beings seeking to harm them.

    Giant grasshoppers make an appearance

Along with a new episode comes a new plot. In Jurassic World Dominion, audiences can expect the arrival of giant grasshoppers designed by BioSyn, a laboratory specializing in genetics. These grasshoppers do not get along with humans and their wheat plantations. They decimate everything in their wake, especially the fields belonging to independent farmers, in order to cause their downfall.

Faced with the damage they cause and overwhelmed by them, their creator, Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong), realizes that these grasshoppers will eventually come to destroy all food resources, and thus humanity itself, if he doesn’t stop them. So, he decides to join the protagonists’ crew to help them prevent the disaster he himself has caused.

Battles between the dinosaurs reach a climax

Lovers of Cretaceous will be well-served. With its T-Rex, atrociraptors, giganotosaurus, triceratops, diplodocus, pyroraptors, quetzalcoatlus, therizinosaurus… This new episode presents a large panel of dinosaurs compared to the previous ones. The show is gigantic. Although the special effects give the impression of being moderately mastered, Jurassic World Dominion casts a wide net of breathtaking shots in which dinosaurs take power and shine in all their glory.

As a matter of fact, the dinosaur battle scenes balance the shaky plot of the film. For the biggest fans, this third part offers amazing scenery and depiction of these prehistoric giants. The great duel between the female T-Rex and the oversized giganotosaurus is what everyone has been waiting for and matches expectations.
