Steven Spielberg is back with a new sci-fi movie
Since the release of his splendid autobiographical feature The Fabelmans in 2022, Steven Spielberg has kept a low profile. After rumours spread for months, his comeback is gradually taking shape and is now scheduled for June 2026. For the past few days, two posters were displayed — one in Times Square, New York, the other in Los Angeles. It featured a giant bird-shaped eye with the mention “All will be disclosed,” followed by the U.S. release date of the film, “June 12, 2026.” A date that suggests the project could premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival…
The iconic director behind Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993) will return to the world of science fiction with Disclosure Day. The premise of this new production? A “UFO story,” according to Universal Studios.
As for now, the details of this alien movie remain unknown. Steven Spielberg has reportedly reunited with his long-time collaborator, screenwriter David Koepp. Together, they worked on War of the Worlds (2005) and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

In addition to the screenplay and title of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming feature, the names of the three main actors have recently been made official. Among them, two British stars have landed the coveted opportunity to work with the great American director. The first leading role will be played by none other than Emily Blunt, who will be collaborating with Steven Spielberg for the first time. The British-American actress, star of the blockbusters The Fall Guy (2024), starring Ryan Gosling, and Oppenheimer (2023) with Cillian Murphy, continues her remarkable rise in Hollywood. Besides, no one is likely to forget her iconic role in The Devil Wears Prada (2006).
Another leading actor starring in Disclosure Day? Josh O’Connor, who has been captivating both audiences and critics for several months now. From his deeply moving roles in the series The Crown and in Alice Rohrwacher’s arthouse film La Chimera, to his sexy and widely noticed performance in Challengers alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist, the British actor is clearly getting attention from the greatest international filmmakers. Finally, the very elegant Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson (The Perfect Couple, Bad Sisters) complete this star-studded cast.
Disclosure Day, directed by Steven Spielberg, will come out in US theaters on June 12th, 2026.
