Hennessy signs an exceptional cognac decanter with Frank Gehry and Baccarat
Hennessy has once again teamed up with architect Frank Gehry to create an exceptional cognac decanter in Baccarat crystal, produced in a limited edition of thirty.
Founded in 1765 in Cognac, the Hennessy house – well known to brandy lovers – elegantly combines its family heritage with modernity. After an initial collaboration with Frank Gehry to mark the 150th anniversary of their iconic Hennessy X.O cognac, the company has once again called on the architect to design a 6-liter Methuselah. Famous for his ultra-modern buildings such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the American architect also created sculptures and furniture early in his career. At the age of 92, he returned to this practice to design a sublime case for X.O cognac, the house’s signature spirit.
Designed by Frank Gehry and crafted by Baccarat, this ultra-limited edition of thirty pieces testifies to the excellence of the craftsmen’s skills at the French crystal glassworks founded in 1764. With a capacity of six liters, the X.O Methuselah decanter in Baccarat crystal evokes ice. Transparent and simple, it reveals the sumptuous amber color of the cognac it contains. Of rare technical complexity, each decanter required a very special fabrication process, from preparatory drawings to final molding. “This design combines the characteristic style of Frank Gehry, the refinement of Baccarat and the singularity of Hennessy X.O. cognac,” sums up Laurent Boillot, President of Hennessy.
