Le créateur de “Peaky Blinders” réunit Matthew McConaughey et Anne Hathaway dans un thriller palpitant

Four years after the now cult Interstellar by Christopher Nolan, film maker Steven Knight – creator of the TV series Peaky Blinders – has orchestrated the reunion ofMatthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, as they share top billing in Serenity, a breathless thriller set for release in the USA in January 2019.

Unlike Interstellar  in which Anne Hathaway proudly sports a pudding basin-cut, here the actress has a blonde mane worthy of a femme fatale. In Serenity she plays Karen, a women suffering domestic abuse at the hands of her partner (Jason Clarke), who decides to contact her ex-husband (Matthew McConaughey), a lonely fisherman. Together they hatch a very simple plan: feed the violent lover to the sharks…

Faced with this synopsis, it’s hard not to imagine a strange mix between the film Mud by Jeff Nichols in which Matthew McConaughey plays a man seeking refuge on a Mississippi island and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. In the meantime, the American actor will also be starring in Undercover – A True Story (January 2nd 2019) and The Beach Bum, a stoner movie by Harmony Korine.

Plus de quatre ans après le déjà culte Interstellar de Christopher Nolan, le cinéaste Steven Knight – créateur de la série Peaky Blinders – orchestre les retrouvailles de Matthew McConaughey et Anne Hathaway. Ils partagent l’affiche de Serenity, un thriller haletant dont la sortie est prévue pour la fin du mois de janvier 2019 aux États-Unis.

Contrairement à Interstellar dans lequel Anne Hathaway portait fièrement la coupe au bol, l’actrice affiche ici une chevelure blonde digne d’une femme fatale. Dans Serenity, elle incarne Karen, femme battue par son conjoint (Jason Clarke), qui décide de reprendre contact avec son ex-mari (Matthew McConaughey), un pêcheur solitaire. Ensemble, ils élaborent un plan très simple :  jeter l’homme violent aux requins…

Face à ce synopsis, difficile de na pas imaginer un étrange mélange entre le film Mud de Jeff Nichols dans lequel Matthew McConaughey incarnait un homme réfugié sur une île du Mississippi et le mythique Les Dents de la mer de Steven Spielberg. En attendant, l’acteur américain sera prochainement à l’affiche de Undercover – Une histoire vraie (2 janvier 2019) et The Beach Bum stoner movie d’Harmony Korine.

Serenity de Steven Knight sortira en salle fin janvier 2019 aux États-Unis.
