Ce jeudi 19 janvier 2023, la Fashion Week de Paris se poursuit, malgré le froid, la grève et les manifestations qui agitent la capitale. Au sein de la cour carrée du Louvre, qui accueille régulièrement les shows de la maison, Louis Vuitton a présenté un défilé homme automne-hiver 2023-2024 hors norme, au cours duquel la superstar Rosalía a réalisé une performance exceptionnelle, d’autant que la chanteuse espagnole se produit rarement en France. Sur ses tubes Candy, Saoko ou De Plata, le malletier français ouvre un nouveau chapitre de son histoire, avec un premier défilé homme réalisé par son studio en collaboration avec le label KidSuper, lauréat du prix LVMH – Karl Lagerfeld en 2021.

C’est dans un décor signé du réalisateur français Michel Gondry, qu’ont défilé les silhouettes de la collection Louis Vuitton homme automne-hiver 2023-2024, co-créées avec le label KidSuper, fondé par le designer et peintre Colm Dillane. Croisant leurs univers empreints de poésie et d’onirisme, les deux artistes prolongent la vision du regretté directeur artistique de la maison Virgil Abloh. Dans une mise en scène intimiste, reproduisant une chambres d’ado, les mannequins se livrent à des saynètes arborant un vestiaire formel, décliné dans des gris et grèges, ou au contraire des créations extravagantes au style plus streetweear, ornées de motifs surréalistes, en trompe-l’oeil ou de peintures colorées signées KidSuper. Un défilé-spectacle qui évoque le pouvoir de l’imaginaire et rappelle la créativité sans limite qui nourrit la maison Louis Vuitton. À la fin du défilé, une question demeure sur toutes les lèvres : qui sera nommé directeur artistique des collections homme pour succéder à Virgil Abloh?

Rosalía and KidSuper set the Louis Vuitton men’s Fall/Winter 2023-2024 show alight

Despite the cold, the strike, and multiple demonstrations raging in the capital, the Paris Fashion Week was still on last Thursday, January 19th, 2023. At the heart of the Louvres’ quad, which usually hosts Louis Vuitton’s shows, the fashion house presented an extraordinary men’s Fall/Winter 2023-2024 show, during which superstar Rosalía delivered a breathtaking performance, especially since the Spanish singer rarely performs in France. To hits like Candy, Saoko, and De Plata, the French trunk maker opened a new chapter in its history with the first men’s show produced by its studio in collaboration with KidSuper, the label which won the LVMH – Karl Lagerfeld prize in 2021.

Co-created with the label KidSuper and its founder, the designer and painter Colm Dillane, the silhouettes of the Louis Vuitton men’s Fall/Winter 2023-2024 collection were displayed in a set designed by French director Michel Gondry. Combining their poetic and oneiric worlds, the two artists followed in the footsteps of the house’s late artistic director Virgil Abloh. In that intimate setting recreating a teenager’s bedroom, the models performed playlets wearing both formal clothes declined in different shades of grey and extravagant streetwear creations decorated with surrealist patterns, trompe-l’oeil, and colorful paintings designed by KidSuper. A great show that evoked the power of imagination and recalled the boundless creativity at the core of Louis Vuitton. By the end of the show, one question remained on everyone’s lips: who will take over the artistic direction of the men’s collections after Virgil Abloh?
