Cho Gi-Seok photographie une vision surréaliste de l’amour pour Numéro
Né et basé à Séoul, Cho Gi-Seok développe une approche poétique de la photographie, révélant dans ses images un imaginaire fabuleux. Ses clichés, empreints de référence à l’histoire de l’art et à la culture traditionnelle de son pays natal, déploient un récit où la douceur des fleurs tient une place fondamentale, du point de vue narratif autant qu’esthétique. Scénographe, sculpteur, graphiste et directeur de création de Kusikohc, son propre label de vêtement conceptuels, Cho Gi-Seok a fait partie des 22 créateurs sélectionnés pour la demi-finale du prix LVMH 2023. Pour sa première collaboration avec Numéro, il signe cette fascinante série nommée “Attraction fatale”, dans laquelle il confie avoir cherché “des correspondances entre les aspects favorables et néfastes de la passion amoureuse, les fleurs et les saisons”. Accompagné des mannequins Shin Hyunji et Mathieu Simoneau, Cho Gi-Seok représente la fantaisie surréaliste du sentiment amoureux.

Cho Gi-Seok captures a surreal vision of love for Numéro
Born and based in Seoul, Cho Gi-Seok develops a poetic approach to photography, revealing a fabulous realm of imagination in his images. Imbued with references to the history of art and to the traditional culture of his native country, his shots unfold a narrative in which the sweetness of flowers plays an essential role, both from a narrative and aesthetic perspective. As a set designer, sculptor, graphic designer, and creative director of his own conceptual fashion label, Kusikohc, Cho Gi-Seok was one of 22 designers selected for the semi-final of the 2023 LVMH prize. For his very first collaboration with Numéro, he produced this fascinating series entitled “Fatal Attraction”, in which he had been searching for “correspondences between the positive and harmful components of passionate love, flowers, and seasons” in his own words. Along with models Shin Hyunji and Mathieu Simoneau, Cho Gi-Seok pictures the surreal fantasy of love.
