But, this time, <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/music\/super-bowl-2026-bad-bunny-to-perform-a-highly-political-halftime-show\/\"><strong>Bad Bunny<\/strong><\/a> will be on the silver screen as the lead character in a film titled <strong><em>Porto Rico<\/em><\/strong>. The project will also mark the directorial debut of fellow Puerto Rican rapper <strong>Ren\u00e9 P\u00e9rez Joglar<\/strong>, better known as <strong>Residente<\/strong>. The latter will direct and co-write the film with <strong>Alexander Dinelaris<\/strong>, the screenwriter and producer behind <em>Birdman<\/em> and <em>The Revenant<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>I have dreamed of making a film about my country since I was a child. Puerto Rico\u2019s true history has always been surrounded by controversy<\/em>,\u201d the director told <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/02\/bad-bunny-porto-rico-movie-ed-norton-javier-bardem-residente-1236727219\/\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a> about his upcoming project. The media described the feature as an \u201c<em>epic Caribbean western and historical drama<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Javier Bardem and Edward Norton in the cast<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Produced by multi-Oscar-winning filmmaker <strong>Alejandro G. I\u00f1\u00e1rritu<\/strong>, the feature film will chronicle the fight of Puerto Rican revolutionary <strong>Jos\u00e9 Maldonado Rom\u00e1n<\/strong> against Spanish colonialism at the end of the 19th century, on an island that is now a US territory. Leading a gang of ex-convicts, he will fight to defend his island in search of identity.\u00a0<strong>Bad Bunny<\/strong> will star alongside Spanish actor <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/the-confessions-of-halle-bailey-and-javier-bardem-disney-stars-of-the-little-mermaid\/\"><strong>Javier Bardem<\/strong><\/a> (<em>No Country for Old Men<\/em>), <strong>Edward Norton<\/strong> (<em>Fight Club<\/em>), and <strong>Viggo Mortensen<\/strong> (<em>Green Book<\/em>). The 31-year-old singer has always been vocal about his passion for cinema. Whether it was through his grand, musical-like performance at the <strong>Super Bowl 2026<\/strong> or with the release of his album <strong><em>DeB\u00cd TiRAR M\u00e1S FOTos<\/em><\/strong> in 2025, accompanied by a short film co-directed with <strong>Ar\u00ed Maniel Cruz<\/strong>.
