But it was <em>Nomadland<\/em> (2020), starring <strong>Frances McDormand<\/strong>, that skyrocketed her career. The film is an adaptation of the novel <em>Hamnet<\/em> by British writer and journalist <strong>Maggie O\u2019Farrell<\/strong> (2020). It tells the story behind the creation of the play <em>Hamlet<\/em>, whose first performance took place between 1598 and 1601.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Actor <strong>Paul Mescal<\/strong> (<em>Normal People<\/em>, <em>Aftersun<\/em>) plays the young and tormented <strong>William Shakespeare<\/strong>. Next to him, J<strong>essie Buckley<\/strong> (<em>The Lost Daughter<\/em>) portrays the\u00a0playwright\u2019s fiery wife, <strong>Anne Hathaway<\/strong>, called Agnes in the novel. William was a penniless Latin teacher at the time.
