Wicked: A fantasy film inspired by The Wizard of Oz<\/em><\/h2><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since last winter 2024, pop star Ariana Grande<\/strong> and British actress Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> are headlining the film Wicked<\/em><\/strong>. This cinematic adaptation of the 2003 Broadway musical embarks us into the enchanting world of Oz inspired by the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz<\/em>. The first instalment, released last year, also starred Jonathan Bailey<\/strong> (Bridgerton<\/em>, Fellow Travelers<\/em>), Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> (Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em>), and Jeff Goldblum<\/strong> in the heart of a magical school.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what\u2019s the plot of Wicked 1<\/em>? Two witches, Glinda<\/strong> and Elphaba<\/strong>, develop a deep friendship despite being complete opposites. But they must confront their biases when a conspiracy threatens one of them\u2026<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo embraces method dressing<\/h2><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before audiences could dive into this magical first chapter, fans were already captivated by the curated looks worn by the cast during the promotional tour. During interviews, screenings, and red carpets, the cast repeatedly paid tribute to the Wicked<\/em><\/strong> universe through their clothes, which quickly went viral on social media.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following in the footsteps of Jenna Ortega<\/strong><\/a> during the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2024) press tour, Ariana Grande<\/strong> and Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> have also adopted “Method dressing” – the art of embodying a character off set.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both actresses have been spotted exclusively in outfits reflecting their character – pink for one, green for the other. Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> leans into darker tones and vibrant electric greens, right down to her nail polish, while Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a> explores various shades of pink, often through fairytale gowns. One standout look is the light pink Giambattista Valli<\/strong> dress with voluminous hems, paired with pink Tiffany & Co.<\/strong> jewels, worn by the singer at the 2024 Oscars<\/strong>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wicked<\/em> adventure continues with a sequel<\/h2><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a sequel to the first film, Ariana Grande<\/strong> and Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> once again returned to their signature colours in 2025, ahead of the theatrical release of Wicked: For Good<\/em><\/a><\/strong> on November 19th. One wielding a wand and wearing a sparkling tiara, the other sporting a witch\u2019s hat and broom.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stars delivered even more enchanting looks for the film\u2019s global premieres. Ariana Grande called on sought-after stylist Law Roach<\/strong>, while Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> reunited with her longtime collaborator Jason Bolden<\/strong> to create either matching or contrasting outfits.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this second chapter, Ariana Grande notably wore designs by Gilbert Adrian<\/strong>, Rahul Mishra<\/strong>, Robert Wun<\/strong>, and Alexander McQueen<\/strong>. As for Cynthia Erivo, she was spotted wearing Prada<\/strong>, Vivienne Westwood<\/strong>, and Givenchy<\/strong> by Sarah Burton<\/strong>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
