Films like\u00a0<em>Frankenstein\u00a0<\/em>(1931),\u00a0<em>Bride of Frankenstein\u00a0<\/em>(1935),\u00a0<em>Young Frankenstein\u00a0<\/em>(1974),\u00a0<em>Mary Shelley\u2019s Frankenstein\u00a0<\/em>(1994) by Kenneth Branagh, or Tim Burton\u2019s\u00a0<em>Frankenweenie\u00a0<\/em>(2012) among others, have constantly revived the myth. But recently, the story of how Victor Frankenstein, a Swiss scientist, crafted a \u201cmonster\u201d from dead flesh using electricity, seems more alive than ever.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last January, Greek director\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/what-crazy-thing-did-emma-stone-do-in-yorgos-lanthimoss-next-film\/\"><strong>Yo\u0301rgos La\u0301nthimos<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(<em>The Favorite<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Lobster<\/em>) offered a feminine rewriting of the myth of Frankenstein with his baroque feature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/interview-with-emma-stone-the-magnetic-star-of-the-sublime-and-wacky-poor-things\/\"><em><strong>Poor Things<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Prosaically, this song revolves around the idea of someone putting me back together and repairing me when I\u2019m broken. I\u2019m in pieces, only to be put back together by someone who reassembles the parts. It\u2019s a very human and realistic experience of rebuilding and creating a new me. Victor Frankenstein abandoned his \u201cchild\u201d because he thought he was hideous. Except that the child was gifted with intelligence and eventually turned against his creator and the society that rejected him.
