At the beginning of August 2025, another piece of news confirmed the studios&#8217; growing interest in old <strong>romantic comedies<\/strong>. Indeed, a series adaptation of <strong><em data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"652\">The Holiday<\/em> <\/strong>(2006) is in the making by <strong>Apple TV+<\/strong>. As the first opus aired on M6 channel on January 2nd, 2026, <em>Num\u00e9ro<\/em> takes stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Apple TV+<\/strong> is currently creating a new version of this cult romantic comedy with new characters, while keeping the original concept that struck a chord in audiences. After all, <strong><em data-start=\"1117\" data-end=\"1130\">The Holiday<\/em><\/strong> remains one of the best and most comforting romantic comedies of all time. We never tire of re-watching it every Christmas season. Yet, this cinematic comfort blanket owes much of its charm to its cast. The original film brought together the irresistibly charismatic <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/lee-miller-kate-winslets-next-big-role-could-win-her-an-oscar\/\"><strong>Kate Winslet<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Cameron Diaz<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/venice-film-festival-2025-jude-law-embodies-vladimir-putin-for-a-french-director\/\">Jude Law<\/a><\/strong>, and<strong> Jack Black<\/strong>. It\u2019s hard to imagine any actors stepping into their roles and delivering the same emotional depth and chemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another downside? <strong>Nancy Meyers<\/strong>, the screenwriter and director of the original film, won\u2019t be involved in this new adaptation. In fact, she reportedly learned about the series from the press, as she stated on Instagram. The series will be produced by Left Bank Pictures, the British production company behind <strong><em data-start=\"331\" data-end=\"342\">The Crown<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em data-start=\"347\" data-end=\"358\">Outlander<\/em><\/strong>. So there\u2019s still hope that the casting lives up to this romantic gem from the 2000s. Especially since the Apple TV+ label often guarantees good quality production&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We would absolutely love to see some of the original cast return for the show. On that note, <strong>Jude Law<\/strong> shared in an interview with <em>Today<\/em>: \u201c<em>You know, I\u2019ve heard of it. I don\u2019t know anything about it. Nothing, except that I don\u2019t think I\u2019m part of it. (&#8230;). I think Nancy [Meyers] wrote to me and asked: \u2018Have you heard of it?\u2019 Literally<\/em>.\u201d The actor went on to say he would consider taking part in the series on one condition: the cult
