No surprise there, knowing that American stylist <strong>Patricia Field<\/strong>, also behind <em data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"773\">Sex and the City<\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/meet-camille-razat-the-fashionable-heroine-of-emily-in-paris-2\/\"><em data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"794\">Emily in Paris<\/em><\/a>, crafted a five-star closet perfectly tailored to the formidable <strong>Miranda Priestly<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/ariana-grande-meryl-streep-and-nicole-kidman-in-a-musical-2\/\">Meryl Streep<\/a>) and young <strong>Andrea Sachs<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/what-project-will-bring-anne-hathaway-and-dakota-johnson-together-on-screen\/\">Anne Hathaway<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While many fashion houses deliberately refused to appear in the film so as not to jeopardise their relationships with real-life magazines, others agreed to play the game. Among them are <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/fashion-week-en\/takeaways-from-the-chanel-haute-couture-show\/\">Chanel<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/venice-film-festival-2025-sofia-coppola-dedicates-her-first-documentary-to-marc-jacobs\/\">Marc Jacobs<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/heron-prestons-new-collection-for-calvin-klein-in-5-key-pieces\/\">Calvin Klein<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/public-baths-and-underwear-alessandro-micheles-bold-vision-at-valentino\/\">Valentino<\/a>. Their runway pieces, seen throughout the film, significantly increased the production cost. The infamous editor-in-chief at <em>Runway<\/em> is said to have worn a necklace inspired by Ancient Egypt. And yet, the studios originally set its eyes on <strong>Rachel McAdams<\/strong>. They wanted to ride on the success of her role as<strong> Regina George<\/strong> in <strong><em data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1716\">Mean Girls<\/em> <\/strong>(2004). But after that breakout hit film, Rachel McAdams chose to step away from mainstream films. To embody the character of <strong>Miranda Priestly<\/strong>, the American actress, drew her inspiration from the calm demeanour of actor and director <strong>Clint Eastwood<\/strong> and the looks of American model <strong>Carmen Dell\u2019Orefice<\/strong>, and used method acting. This approach required the actress to fully immerse herself in the character, even off set, in order to deliver the most authentic performance possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While <strong>Anne Hathaway<\/strong> later admitted to finding the actress intimidating, <strong>Meryl Streep<\/strong> revealed in a 2021 interview with <em data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"748\">Entertainment Weekly<\/em> that she was miserable during the filming: \u201c<em>It was horrible! But due to budget constraints, some of those scenes nearly didn\u2019t happen. Indeed, the film\u2019s $41 million budget already exceeded and there wasn\u2019t enough left to shoot in the French capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, a portion of the crew was sent to Paris\u2026 However, Meryl Streep didn&#8217;t come. Her fee for the trip was apparently too expensive for the production. The interiors of the Ritz on Place Vend\u00f4me was recreated using the lavish settings of Manhattan\u2019s St. Regis Hotel.
