With the film <\/span>Babygirl<\/i><\/strong>, directed by Halina Reijn<\/strong> (<\/span>Instinct<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Bodies Bodies Bodies<\/span><\/i>) and co-starring Antonio Banderas<\/strong>, she continues along that path. Premiering at the 2024 Venice Film Festival<\/strong> and now available on Canal VOD, this erotic thriller tells the story of a CEO who starts a love affair with an intern played by Harris Dickinson<\/strong> (<\/span>Triangle of Sadness<\/span><\/i>). A torrid, BDSM extramarital relationship that will have huge consequences on both her family life and professional career.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is explicit and includes many graphic sex scenes that will surely delight fans of <\/span>Fifty Shades of Grey<\/i><\/strong>. So much so that Nicole Kidman<\/strong> herself isn\u2019t sure she can bear to watch it on the big screen. In an interview with <\/span>Vanity Fair<\/span><\/i>, she confessed: \u201c<\/span>There\u2019s something in me going, \u2018Okay, this was made for the big screen and to be seen with people.\u2019 But then I\u2019m like, \u2018That\u2019s a high-wire act. I\u2019m not sure I have that much bravery\u2019. Maybe I will see it that way \u2013 I\u2019ll let you know. I\u2019ve made some films that are pretty exposing before, but not like this<\/span><\/i>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Nicole Kidman<\/strong>, this film isn\u2019t meant for all audiences: \u201c<\/span>That\u2019s a very weird feeling. This is something you do and hide in your home videos<\/span><\/i>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actress added that her involvement in a project exploring female desire with such nuance was exhausting: \u201c<\/span>I felt extremely exposed as an actress, as a woman, as a human being. I had to go in and go out like, I need to put my protection back on. What have I just done?<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the risk paid off. The actress electrified the festival with her performance in the erotic thriller <\/span>Babygirl<\/i><\/strong>. She earned the Volpi Cup<\/strong> for Best Actress. However, she was unable to collect the award at the Venice Film Festival<\/strong> closing ceremony due to the passing of her mother.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This personal tragedy aside, 2024 was a prolific year for the star, who continues to work on a series of projects. And 2025 looks just as busy. Since September 5th, 2024, she\u2019s also been starring in the gripping mystery series <\/span>The<\/i> Perfect Couple<\/i><\/strong>, a Clue-like mystery set in an idyllic location reminiscent of <\/span>Big Little Lies<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>The White Lotus<\/i><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
