It takes some dose of courage to tackle this cursed, metaphysical work written by the American writer. The book is a sequel to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Orchard Keeper<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1965) and precedes <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Child of God<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1973).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It tells the story of a brother and a sister, but above all, of a secret incest, an abandoned child, and a desperate journey through rural America suspended in time. Upon its release, <\/span><strong><i>Outer Dark<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stood out for the unmatched quality of its author\u2019s prose. A hallucinatory novel in which the characters roam nameless, and evil takes the shape of three mysterious riders who kill, judge, and erase.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/05\/jacob-elordi-lily-rose-depp-cormac-mccarthy-outer-dark-film-1236400543\/\"> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deadline<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Oscar-winning director <strong>L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Nemes<\/strong> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Son of Saul<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) will helm the project. He will then move on to filming <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jean Moulin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a historical drama starring <strong>Gilles Lellouche<\/strong> and <strong>Lars Eidinger<\/strong>, before fully dedicating himself to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outer Dark<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><br><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adapting <strong>Cormac McCarthy<\/strong> on screen is always like walking on thin ice. There have been brilliant successes (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No Country for Old Men<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Coen brothers), bold attempts (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Road<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Counselor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), and some works that rightfully sank into oblivion. His novels cannot easily be adapted.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Outer Dark<\/strong><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <\/strong>is perhaps one of his most cryptic, unbending works. A few dialogues. No light. Nothing to hold on to, except from a dull pain and a prose of breathtaking beauty. That\u2019s why the casting was so crucial. Meanwhile, the audience will soon see Jacob Elordi starring in <strong>Guillermo del Toro<\/strong>\u2019s <\/span><strong><i><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/venice-film-festival-2025-jacob-elordi-and-oscar-isaac-together-in-frankenstein\/\">Frankenstein<\/a><\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:
