Demna, a pop culture enthusiast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Oops, he did it again!<\/em> If Demna<\/strong>\u2019s creative signature had to be defined beyond his taste for radicalism and theatricality, it would surely be for his keen interest in pop culture. Throughout his time at the helm of Balenciaga<\/strong>, the Georgian designer has playfully slipped in more or less overt references to internet subcultures.<\/span>

From episodes of <\/span>The Simpsons<\/i><\/strong> sponsored by Balenciaga<\/strong> to pink tracksuits reminiscent of Paris Hilton<\/strong>\u2019s Juicy Couture<\/strong> sets and icons Isabelle Huppert and Kim Kardashian as muses of the house\u2026 The Demna<\/strong> era at Balenciaga has offered striking marketing moments, infused with a strong passion for pop culture.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Balenciaga Music Series<\/strong> further illustrates the designer\u2019s interest in popular culture. Since 2021, the Spanish house has invited many artists to create exclusive playlists and capsule collections. After Aya<\/strong> Nakamura<\/strong>, RuPaul<\/strong> and Italian singer Mina, Balenciaga<\/strong> has now set its sights on Britney Spears<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A collection in Britney Spears\u2019s image<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On June 3rd, 2025, Balenciaga unveiled a new capsule collection<\/strong> celebrating the impact Britney Spears<\/strong> has had on pop culture<\/strong>. Graphic tees, sweatshirts, studded caps and flags even\u2026 A wide range of pieces with the face of the Pop Princess printed all over t<\/span>hem s<\/span>hape the house\u2019s Spring 2026 collection<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photos of Britney Spears<\/strong>, taken by Rankin and Steven Klein, evoke the singer\u2019s glory days. She\u2019s seen wearing crop tops and dramatic black eyeliner \u2013 hallmarks of her early 2000s style. In a press release, she shared: \u201c<\/span>I have always loved fashion and was so honored and excited Balenciaga and Demna chose to collaborate with me for Demna\u2019s last collection with the house. (\u2026) These are some of my favorite images from such an amazing time in my career and life, and I\u2019m so excited to share it with everyone!<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Britney Spears<\/strong>\u2019 name appears in italic handwritten lettering in pastel shades on the pieces of the collection. With its resolutely vintage feel, the collection reflects the signature style of Balenciaga\u2019s Georgian designer<\/strong> \u2013 a subtle blend of pop culture and faux casualness. Demna thus delivers a merchandising-inspired collection as a tribute to the Princess of Pop. But above all, this last chapter with the house feels like a farewell<\/strong> for the designer, who is about to take the reins at Gucci<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
