The Five-Star Weekend<\/em>, the new film adaptation of the author of The Perfect Couple<\/em><\/h2>\n\n

1.97 billion minutes streamed in just two weeks – that’s the staggering figure reached by the series The Perfect Couple<\/em><\/a>, according to specialized media outlet Nielsen. Starring Nicole Kidman<\/a> as a matriarch, this thriller based on the novel of the same name by writer Elin Hilderbrand<\/strong> was a hit on Netflix. And another literary work by the Pennsylvania-born writer will soon be coming to the small screen.<\/p>\n\n

Chlo\u00eb Sevigny<\/strong> will star in the series The Five-Star Weekend<\/em><\/strong>, alongside Jennifer Garner<\/strong>, Regina Hall<\/strong> (Crazy Rich Asians<\/em>), and Gemma<\/strong> Chan<\/strong> (Crazy Rich Asians<\/em>). The storyline? Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner) lives a dream life. As a lifestyle influencer, she delights in showing off to her ever-growing number of followers her mouthwatering recipes and flawless fashion sense. But when a loved one dies, the illusion begins to crumble. She is forced to confront the facade she has presented online, particularly her more tumultuous-than-it-seems relationship with her husband and daughter\u2026 To help her cope with her grief, she invites four friends she met at different stages of her life for a kind of seaside retreat. A spiritual journey from which none of them will emerge unscathed…<\/p>\n\n

A new film adaptation of Bonjour Tristesse<\/em><\/h2>

In addition to filming The Five-Star Weekend<\/em>, Chlo\u00eb Sevigny<\/strong> will be involved in another adaptation of a luminous work. More than seventy years after its release, the novel Bonjour Tristesse<\/em> (“Hello Sadness”) still deserves its place among the essential classics of French literature. Published in 1954, Fran\u00e7oise Sagan’s remarkable debut novel she wrote in secret when she was only 18 years old, is once again being adapted for the big screen. The first film adaptation, starring Jean Seberg, was released in 1958.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

With this major project, Indian-Canadian author Durga Chew-Bose<\/strong> is making her directorial and screenwriting debut. The film, produced by Denis Westhoff<\/strong>\u2014Fran\u00e7oise Sagan\u2019s son and the executive producer\u2014doesn\u2019t yet have a release date in France (it\u2019s set to premiere in the U.S. on May 2, 2025). However, a first still and trailer have been released, showing three characters in a convertible, bathed in Mediterranean sunshine.<\/p>

Chlo\u00eb Sevigny, Aliocha Schneider, Claes Bang\u2026 a star-studded cast<\/h2>\n\n

According to Variety<\/em>, the film is expected to stay true to Sagan\u2019s cult novel, which won the Prix des Critiques in 1954. The story follows C\u00e9cile, who spends the summer on the French Riviera with her father Raymond and his young companion Elsa, after failing her baccalaur\u00e9at. Their idyllic days are disrupted when Anne, an old family friend, arrives. Her strict and moralistic lifestyle upends their carefree routine, prompting C\u00e9cile to hatch a plan to drive her away\u2014one with tragic consequences.<\/p>

<\/h3><\/p>\n\n

To bring Fran\u00e7oise Sagan\u2019s delicate and gripping story to life, Chew-Bose<\/strong> and Westhoff<\/strong> have assembled a five-star cast. Currently seen in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans<\/em>, Chlo\u00eb Sevigny<\/strong> will portray Anne<\/strong>, while Danish actor Claes Bang<\/strong> (The Northman<\/em>) takes on the role of Raymond.<\/p>

French actress Nailia Harzoune<\/strong> (Patients<\/em>) will play Elsa, acting opposite American actress Lily McInerny<\/strong> (Palm Trees and Power Lines<\/em>), who stars as young C\u00e9cile. Franco-Canadian actor and singer Aliocha Schneider<\/strong> rounds out the cast as C\u00e9cile\u2019s boyfriend. All in all, a project that\u2019s already creating anticipation.<\/p>
