His father, <strong>Stellan<\/strong>, who appeared in <em data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"757\">Millennium<\/em> and <em data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"775\">Melancholia<\/em>, had already guided two of his sons, <strong>Gustaf<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/interview-with-alexander-skarsgard-the-swedish-actor-who-invites-the-vikings-to-hollywood\/\">Alexander<\/a><\/strong>, into the world of acting. Gustaf is known for playing the viking Floki in the series <em data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"928\">Vikings<\/em>, while Alexander portrayed the vampire Eric Northman in <em data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"993\">True Blood<\/em>. Bill began with small roles on Swedish television before leaving his mark portraying a young man with Asperger in Andreas \u00d6hman&#8217;s <em data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1111\">Simple Simon<\/em> in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A performance that earned praise, although the film wasn\u2019t selected as Sweden\u2019s entry at the Oscars. A year later, he starred alongside fellow Scandinavian <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/fashion-week-en\/ana-de-armas-alicia-vikander-venus-williams-the-stars-at-the-louis-vuitton-spring-summer-2022-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Alicia Vikander<\/strong><\/a> in <em data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1362\">Kronjuvelerna<\/em>, before heading across the Atlantic to play Captain Makhotin in <strong>Joe Wright<\/strong>\u2019s film adaptation of Tolstoy\u2019s novel, <em data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1469\">Anna Karenina<\/em>. But the film\u2019s stylish, pop-soaked atmosphere of <em>Atomic Blonde<\/em> wasn&#8217;t what ultimately transformed his career. Although most viewers didn\u2019t recognize him at the time, it was his terrifying portrayal of a demonic clown that left a lasting impression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong> took over the role of Pennywise \u2014 previously played by <strong>Tim Curry<\/strong> in the 1990 adaptation of <strong>Stephen King<\/strong>&#8216;s fantasy novel <em data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2170\">It<\/em>. After an exhaustive casting process, he landed the role at the last minute, edging out <strong>Will Poulter<\/strong> (<em data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2290\">The Maze Runner<\/em>, <em data-start=\"2292\" data-end=\"2306\">The Revenant<\/em>), and embodied the stuff of coulrophobes&#8217; nightmares under director <strong>Andr\u00e9s Muschietti<\/strong>\u2019s watchful eye. <em>\u201cSome actors gave us their best Tim Curry impressions; we even had women audition! But the moment Bill stood in front of us, we were immediately sold,\u201d<\/em> recalls producer Barbara Muschietti. After <em data-start=\"3046\" data-end=\"3058\">Lilyhammer<\/em> (2012) and <strong><em data-start=\"3070\" data-end=\"3086\">House of Cards<\/em><\/strong> (2013), he landed a lead role in the horror series <em data-start=\"3138\" data-end=\"3153\">Hemlock Grove<\/em>, one of Netflix\u2019s earliest original projects. Produced by gore-lover <strong>Eli Roth<\/strong>, the series was described as a \u201cTwin Peaks caught in a monstrous spin.\u201d 27 at the time, the young actor embodied Roman Godfrey, a wealthy heir at the helm of a steelworks in Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania. The story follows Eric Draven and his fianc\u00e9e. Both murdered by a gang, Eric is resurrected by a crow and sets out to avenge their deaths\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 9th, 2025, Skarsg\u00e5rd reunited with the legendary <strong>Anthony Hopkins<\/strong> in <em data-start=\"4292\" data-end=\"4300\"><strong>Locked<\/strong><\/em>, a thriller by American director and screenwriter <strong>David Yarovesky<\/strong>. He played a thief who broke into a luxury vehicle, only to find himself trapped inside by its unsettling owner. The Swedish actor plays Tony Kiritsis, an ordinary man pushed to the brink, who takes hostage the son of a broker he holds responsible for his financial ruin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For 63 hours, his victim remains under the threat of a bomb connected to a device fastened around his neck, while his kidnapper asks for both a ransom and an apology. In this new high-tension role, <strong>Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd <\/strong>embodies a tragic figure\u2026 That of a man crushed by the system and overwhelmed by life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
