Among them \u2013 to everyone\u2019s great surprise \u2013 was <em>The Meyerowitz Stories<\/em>&nbsp;(directed by Noah Baumbach) and&nbsp;<em>Okja<\/em>&nbsp;(directed by Bong Joon-ho). The problem is these two films produced by Netflix are only available to subscribers oftheir own channel and won\u2019t be shown in regular cinemas\u2026 Their selection caused immediate outcry at Cannes. But <em>Okja<\/em>, in the official competition for the Palme d\u2019Or, maintains its online release will happen next month. Netflix: 1 \u2013 Movie theatres: 0.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The festival subsequently announced \u2013 to avoid a boycott perhaps \u2013 that from next year the competing films must be available for general release in French cinemas.
