Located at\u00a0254 West 54th Street in the middle of Manhattan, the club was the epicenter of all eccentricities. Its two founders,\u00a0<strong>Ian Schrager<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Steve Rubell<\/strong>, served a prison sentence for tax evasion. There, the biggest pop culture and fashion icons gathered for wild parties, from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/art-design\/photography\/andy-warhol-mick-jagger-jet-set-life-as-seen-by-bob-colacello-at-the-ropac-gallery-2\/\">Andy Warhol<\/a><\/strong> to<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/movies\/documentary-grace-jones-bloodlight-and-bami-sophie-fiennes\/\">Grace Jones<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Elton John<\/strong>, <strong>Nile Rodgers<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/heron-prestons-new-collection-for-calvin-klein-in-5-key-pieces\/\">Calvin Klein<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/culture-en\/music\/david-bowie-forgotten-album-resurrected-20-years-later\/\">David Bowie<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Elizabeth Taylor<\/strong>, <strong>Mick<\/strong> <strong>Jagger<\/strong>, <strong>Jack<\/strong> <strong>Nicholson<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/art-design\/yves-saint-laurent-from-the-louvre-to-the-pompidou-centre-six-parisian-museums-celebrate-the-great-couturier\/\">Yves Saint Laurent<\/a><\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glamour, sex and drugs took every shape and form. This temple of excess brought together the<strong> LGBT community<\/strong>, models, artists and celebrities from all walks of life. In the midst of the disco era, the Gatsby-like opulence of the club let anyone in, if considered beautiful enough. At the door, queues snaked around the block for hundreds of meters right up until 1986, when the club finally closed after twelve electrifying years. The feature, which premiered at <strong>Sundance<\/strong> <strong>Film<\/strong> <strong>Festival<\/strong>\u00a0in 2018,\u00a0unveils unseen archival footage and follows the founders and visitors
