After <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em> (2018) about Queen, <em>Rocketman<\/em> (2019) about<a href=\"https:\/\/www.numero.com\/en\/music\/elton-john-gucci-diamonds-your-song-honky-cat-rocket-man-fashion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Elton John<\/a>, or more recently <em>Elvis<\/em> out now, a new biopic on Amy Winehouse will come to light. Titled <em>Back to Black<\/em>, the biopic produced by Studiocanal was approved by the singer\u2019s family. Sam Taylor-Johnson, the filmmaker behind <em>Fifty Shades of Grey<\/em> (2015), led the project. The script was written by the British screenwriter <strong>Matt Greenhalgh<\/strong>, who knows his topic well when it comes to rock stars. He has already collaborated on the films <em>Control<\/em> (2007) about the tumultuous story of <strong>Ian Curtis<\/strong>, leader of the music band <strong>Joy Division<\/strong>, and <em>Nowhere Boy<\/em> (2009), which traces back the early years of <strong>John Lenno<\/strong>n, one of the famous <strong>Beatles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since her death in 2011, many have tried to transpose the singer\u2019s life onto the big screen with quite ambitious projects that eventually never came out. Conversely, some documentaries were released, like the exceptional <em><strong>Amy<\/strong><\/em> (2015) directed by British director <strong>Asif Kapadia<\/strong>, who won the <strong>Oscar for Best Documentary Feature<\/strong> in 2016. This dive into the life and family of the British singer explores her weaknesses and the dark side of stardom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite her tragic passing at the age of 27, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numero.com\/en\/music\/amy-winehouse-grammy-museum-los-angeles-back-to-black-frank-mark-ronson-gil-cang-camden-town-death-exhibition-dolce-gabbana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Amy Winehouse<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s eventful life and tumultuous personality offer dense material for this new biopic that will mainly focus on the musician\u2019s talent. However, no names have been released regarding the cast for the leading role yet. Rumor has it that either superstar <strong>Lady Gaga<\/strong>, Fifth Harmony former member <strong>Lauren Jauregui<\/strong>, or actress and singer <strong>Lea Michele<\/strong>, could get the role.
