href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/the-secrets-behind-three-louis-vuitton-trunks-up-for-sale-at-christies\/\">Louis Vuitton<\/a> <\/strong>forged an exceptional path for himself, to the point of making its name a luxury brand and a symbol of excellence. Before moving to Paris, his career began in a small village, where he made his debut as an apprentice as a &#8220;layer-packer-trunk maker&#8221;\u00a0in 1837. Spotted by the <strong>Empress Eugenie<\/strong>, who liked his skills and the quality of his trunks, he successfully set up his own business in 1854 and opened a shop on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honor\u00e9, seducing a wealthy clientele. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A time of big social change, the 19th century saw the birth of new means of transportation, like trains, steamboats, and later, cars. Tourism developed rapidly thanks to these technical evolutions. Having become famous for its trunks, which were light, strong and practical to travel with, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/fashion-week-en\/louis-vuitton-fall-winter-2026-2027-show-paris-nature\/\">Louis Vuitton<\/a><\/strong> opened a large workshop in Asni\u00e8res, near Paris, in 1859. Later joined by his son, his grandson and great-grandson finally took over, making the name <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/numero.com\/en\/fashion\/fashion-week-en\/pharrell-williams-envisions-the-future-at-the-louis-vuitton-show\/\">Louis Vuitton<\/a><\/strong> go down in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, the fashion house celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founder&#8217;s birth. For the occasion, <strong>Caroline Bongrand<\/strong>, novelist and screenwriter behind the film <em><strong>Eiffel<\/strong><\/em> (2021), published a biography about the French designer.
