“SolarWind”, Laurent Grasso’s technical and visually monumental prowess at Paris’s gates

At the 13th district outskirts, district experiencing a complete revitalisation at the heart of Paris Rive Gauche, “SolarWind” announces itself as the greatest commission at the Grand Paris’ scale. A year after his last personal exhibition at the Galerie Perrotin, Laurent Grasso imagines a monumental luminous installation evoking magnetic substorms of which the scientific scope brings to mind the environmental debates taking place right now.
Much like aurora borealis, SolarWind‘s flow of blending colours renders in real-time the display of solar activity and makes of this installation a genuine lyrical and technical prowess. Such thin and piercing beams illuminate the two silos, each more than 40 meters high and 20 meters diameter, that more than a million passersby and drivers are able to witness the extraordinary performance.
