Europe’s most eagerly awaited techno event returns to Saint-Étienne

After a year’s absence, the Positive Education festival returns to Saint-Etienne from November 9 to 13. Thanks to its pioneering programming, the festival – created in 2015 – has become an unmissable reference on the techno scene in France and Europe alike.

From November 9 to 13, the Positive Education techno festival returns to Saint-Étienne. While the former industrial city has seen a resurgence of interest from underground enthusiasts in recent years, it is also a stronghold, rather incognito, of the techno scene. Founded in 2015 by Charles Di Falco and Antoine Hernandez – two electronic music enthusiasts – the festival is well and truly a benchmark for the techno scene in France and Europe alike. With its experimental line-up, Positive Education has made a name for itself thanks to its pioneering programming, appreciated by neophytes and experts alike.

Set in the Cité du Designa huge hangar reminiscent of Berlin’s iconic Berghain, designed by the Ascidiacea collective – this year’s festival will once again welcome several thousand festival-goers over four days. After the frustration caused by the cancellation of the previous edition, the festival organizers wanted to offer a great open and inclusive party, so they teamed up with the Groupe d’Entraide Mutuelle de Saint-Étienne to allow disabled people to take part.

A niche festival with growing success, this year’s edition once again brings together a selection of cutting-edge techno talent. Teuffers and music lovers alike will be flocking to the Rhône-Alpes region to enjoy this audacious program. Alongside the legendary Jennifer Cardini and Laurent Garnier, we will also be joined by the futuristic hip-hop of Shygirl, the ultra-radical universe of multi-disciplinary artist Crystallmess in the company of the uncontrollable LSDXOXO, DJ Anetha, musician Coucou Chloé and the iconic Low Jack. Alongside the DJ sets, a series of conferences on the ecological transition in the world of culture and a digital arts festival will take place in the Manufacture district, the epicenter of the techno scene for the weekend.
