Rihanna’s first FENTY collection is finally unveiled

Last January, the LVMH group announced the launch of Rihanna’s own ready-to-wear label FENTY. This week, the singer unveils her fist collection Release 5-19, available from May 24 in a pop-up store in the heart of Paris.

Since 2015, Rihanna has entered the fashion industry step by step: first, by collaborating with Puma to create a sexy sportswear collection called by her name, Fenty. Then, by launching Savage x Fenty, her lingerie collection which celebrates diversity. Meanwhile, the American singer has made a name for herself in the cosmetic industry with her beauty line Fenty Beauty: make-up products like foundation are very popular for their large shade range. She was one step away from creating her own clothes and accessories label. It’s with the support of LVMH that Rihanna announced in January she was launching FENTY, a ready-to-wear female line. The fist collection Release 5-19 will be available at the end of May.

Unveiled this week, Release 5-19 is reminiscent of the singer: unsurprisingly, the Rihanna woman is assertive, powerful and feminine. In her sets, everything is meant to emphasize the body without constraining it: marked shoulders, defined waist and large hips accentuate the figure, while the light and flexible materials make the clothes very fluid. For her jackets and tops, Rihanna decided to show off the curves of the chest, sometimes finishing the looks with large trousers. The colors are soft and summery, with pieces that are creamy white, pale pink, coral and beige as well as dark blue (the color of a Japanese denim). Jewelry and accessories are not forgotten: to compliment her outfits, Rihanna has designed high-heeled sandals, bracelets and earrings in different sizes, as well as several sunglasses.

Photographed by British Glen Luchford, the first FENTY campaign sees the models in an arid and sun-drenched landscape. Every piece in the Release 5-19 collection can be found in a pop-up store opened in the heart of the Marais district, in Paris. They will then be available from May 29 on the label’s website. An appealing foretaste by the singer who, once more, aims well.

Find the Release 5-19 collection from May 10 at 10, rue de Turenne, Paris 3e.
